The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Akiyama drops back, looking for a kneebar! Kim looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Kim looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Kim!
Akiyama might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Akiyama is looking to regain half guard here but Kim keeps moving and retains side control.

Kim tries to lock up and control but Akiyama gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Akiyama is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Kim has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Kim!

Kim decides to stand back up. Kim steps back and let's Akiyama get back to his feet.
Horrible takedown by Kim or perhaps it was just good defense by Akiyama which made him look bad.

and Kim counters with a three punch combo that has Akiyama backing up. Akiyama nods at Kim to acknowledge the strikes.
