The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Submitt shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Gilkov is trying to defend but Submitt finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Submitt wants to stand but his hand is trapped. Gilkov uses the opportunity to regain full guard.
Gilkov manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Submitt manages to get himself to full guard.
Gilkov stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Submitt swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Submitt tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Gilkov smiles and moves away.
Gilkov feints and as Submitt raises his hands in defense, Gilkov changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Gilkov wants to get up but he can't break Submitt's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gilkov has control of Submitt's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Submitt regains control of the situation pretty easily.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Gilkov can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Submitt is looking to escape.
Gilkov postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Submitt looks a forlorn figure.
Gilkov avoids the attempt from Submitt to control.
Gilkov has hold of Submitt's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Submitt manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Gilkov cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Gilkov is taking a breather. Submitt says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
