Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Santiago Marquez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Valtir Griggoff!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Aleksandr Martynov and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Griggoff tries to close the distance and clinch up but Marquez swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Griggoff rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Marquez moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Griggoff tries to clinch but Marquez is having none of it.

Marquez gets caught flat footed, as Griggoff shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Marquez is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Griggoff defends well.
Marquez trying to keep a closed guard but Griggoff is proving a slippery customer.

Marquez throws his legs up looking for a submission but Griggoff uses it to pass to side control.
Marquez pushes Griggoff away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Griggoff gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Griggoff trying to control the position but Marquez is working away.
Marquez is trying to buck Griggoff off.
Griggoff wants to lay and pray for a moment but Marquez keeps working.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Marquez is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Marquez displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Griggoff.

Griggoff lands a left and a right that send Marquez crashing to the mat, dazed. Griggoff thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


Marquez is rocked!


It looks like Santiago Marquez has been cut.
Marquez is breathing heavily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Griggoff dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Griggoff shoots in and drives through. Marquez sprawls well.

Griggoff moves into range and clinches up with Marquez.

Griggoff drags the fight down to the ground.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Griggoff can do anything to dispel that myth.
Griggoff is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Griggoff manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Griggoff looking to control but Marquez is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Griggoff might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Marquez kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Griggoff punching from mount but Marquez doing a good job of avoiding damage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Griggoff thowing shots but they're missing.
Marquez tries to hold on but Griggoff pushes him away.
Marquez is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Griggoff trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Griggoff won't let Marquez get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Griggoff controlling the pace for now.
Marquez is desperately trying to improve his position but Griggoff has a good base and remains in mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Griggoff trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Marquez keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Griggoff wants to control the pace but Marquez is squirming around nicely.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Despite being in the dominant position, Valtir Griggoff just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Griggoff looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Santiago Marquez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Valtir Griggoff.
Griggoff scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Valtir Griggoff dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Santiago Marquez's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Marquez on the wrong end of a nice hook.
A head kick misses from Marquez.
Marquez misses with a hook to the body

and Griggoff counters with a crisp one two that drops Marquez! Griggoff thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Marquez to his feet! Marquez is in big trouble!
Oh Marquez is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Griggoff digs a good hook to Marquez's body.
Griggoff lands with a jab that stuns his opponent. Marquez is looking to close the distance but Griggoff sees it coming and throws a beautiful knee! Marquez crumbles to the mat and that's all she wrote! Let's hope Marquez is OK because that was naaaaaasty!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:20 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Knee). Valtir Griggoff!
