Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Frank Pembelton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fortune Cookie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pembelton comes to the cage accompanied by Hail Mary by Tupac. Cookie has chosen . as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Pembelton! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 5 - 1, fighting out of New York, Fortune Cookie! The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Alyssa Summers and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pembelton slips a jab from Cookie. Pembelton moves away from the strike by Cookie. Pembelton shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Cookie manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Cookie wants to sweep here but Pembelton controlling him for the moment. Cookie is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Pembelton drops back, looking for a kneebar! Cookie looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Cookie looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Cookie! Cookie stands up. Cookie misses with a jab, cross combination.
Fortune Cookie is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cookie misses with a looping left. Fortune Cookie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Pembelton tries to close the distance and clinch but Cookie swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. A slow jab from Cookie misses its intended target. Cookie lands with a nice body punch. Cookie misses with an uppercut. Pembelton saw that one coming. Pembelton ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Pembelton steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Cookie. Cookie smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Cookie takes a swing at Pembelton's ribcage but misses. Pembelton will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Cookie swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Cookie throws a right and a left that Pembelton avoids nicely. Cookie connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pembelton wants to clinch up but Cookie keeps it at a distance. Pembelton scores with a nice head shot. Cookie misses with an uppercut. Pembelton saw that one coming. Cookie looks to land a left hand but Pembelton moved out of range nicely. Pembelton fails in his attempt to clinch. Pembelton bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Cookie's head backwards. Cookie misses with an uppercut. Pembelton saw that one coming. Cookie takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Pembelton bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Cookie dodges the ground and pound from Pembelton. Pembelton tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Pembelton working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pembelton trying to control the action but Cookie is working from the bottom. Cookie tries to improve position but can't. Cookie holds on tight, trying to prevent any damage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Pembelton working away. Pembelton swings around for an armbar but Cookie sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Pembelton's guard. Pembelton lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Cookie! Pembelton tries to control but Cookie wriggling away. Cookie wants to hold on but Pembelton pushes him away. Pembelton looking to control but Cookie is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Pembelton has hold of Cookie's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Cookie manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Fortune Cookie will probably get the nod. That's time! Pembelton's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Cookie misses with a hook. Pembelton ducked under it nicely. Pembelton ducks under a wild hook from Cookie. Cookie defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Pembelton. Cookie missing with a left hand there. Pembelton was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Cookie misses the shot to the body. Pembelton moves out of range as Cookie strikes. Pembelton shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Cookie defends it nicely. Cookie swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pembelton misses with an uppercut. Cookie misses with a hook. Pembelton ducked under it nicely. Pembelton keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Cookie.

Cookie misses the jab. Cookie gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Pembelton. Pembelton tries to score a power double leg takedown but Cookie sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Pembelton somewhat. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Frank Pembelton. That's going to take a lot out of him. Pembelton is trying hard to land a takedown here. Cookie sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Cookie is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Pembelton. Nice straight punches there by Pembelton. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Pembelton. Pembelton uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Cookie. Pembelton shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Pembelton showed some decent athleticism there. Pembelton trying to control the pace.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pembelton is just content to waste time from the top position. Cookie takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. Cookie keeping moving, preventing Pembelton from controlling successfully.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pembelton pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Cookie is keeping the position for now. Pembelton trying to control but Cookie is working from the bottom. Pembelton trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Pembelton trying to control the position from guard on top but Cookie is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Pembelton preventing the sweep.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Cookie fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Pembelton manages to avoid it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Pembelton lands with a good body shot. Cookie avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Cookie misses with an uppercut. Cookie scores with a punch to the head. Cookie throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Pembelton. Cookie throws a shot from downtown. Pembelton moves away and avoids it. Pembelton takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

and Pembelton counters by moving into the clinch. Pembelton is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Cookie pulls him back up using the underhooks. Cookie gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Pembelton.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Cookie working aggressively here.

That was a close second round but I would say that Frank Pembelton will probably get the nod. That's time! Pembelton's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Pembelton fails to land the takedown. Pembelton scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Pembelton goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Cookie rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Pembelton's guard! Nice work there by Cookie! Cookie stopping the sweep attempt from Pembelton. Pembelton is trying to control the position but Cookie postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cookie content to stall in guard here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cookie passes Pembelton's left leg - he's now in half guard. Pembelton regains full guard. Nicely done. Pembelton is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Cookie defends well. Pembelton bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Cookie's guard. Pembelton slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pembelton is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Cookie is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Pembelton wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Cookie, who protects the arm well. Cookie can't do much from the bottom here. Pembelton thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pembelton tries for a kimura but Cookie is defending well. Cookie is looking for a sweep. Pembelton tries to score with some ground and pound. Cookie controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Pembelton wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Cookie, who protects the arm well.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Cookie misses with a looping left.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Cookie misses with a hook. Pembelton ducked under it nicely. Cookie dips to his left and cracks Pembelton with an uppercut! Pembelton has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Pembelton there as he acknowledges the shot. Cookie might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Cookie keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Pembelton fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Pembelton tries to clinch up but Cookie circles away and keeps his distance. Cookie swings away with a body shot that misses
and Pembelton counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Cookie! Pembelton wants to control the pace but Cookie is squirming around nicely. Cookie tries to reverse the position but Pembelton maintains control.
And that's the end of the fight! Frank Pembelton showed his dominance in that final round. I think Pembelton has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
