PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ground Pound II (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Evan Flow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ground Pound II!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Evan Flow!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Wagner Zegers and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pound II gets caught flat footed, as Flow shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Flow throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Pound II works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Pound II keeping moving, preventing Flow from controlling successfully.

Flow postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Pound II is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Flow, into his guard.

Flow looking for a guillotine here but Pound II defends easily.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Flow can do anything to dispel that myth.
Flow wants to sweep here but Pound II controlling him for the moment.

Flow is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Flow preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Pound II is breathing heavily.
Pound II preventing the sweep.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Flow is pulling down on Pound II's head. It's preventing any offense from Pound II, at least for the moment.
Flow keeping moving, preventing Pound II from controlling successfully.

Flow has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Pound II can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Flow throws a head kick but Pound II moves out of range.
Flow fails in his attempt to clinch.

Flow shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Flow dominating with strikes here.
Flow is looking to stand but Flow has his arms wrapped tightly around him, looking to prevent the damage.
Flow lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Pound II tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Flow controlling the pace for now.
Flow sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Pound II can't escape the position.
Flow looking to control but Pound II is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Flow takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Flow misses with a series of wild punches.
Flow misses with a looping left.
Flow is looking to clinch but Pound II is avoiding it.

Flow looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Flow showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Pound II wants to stand up but Flow is controlling him.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Flow trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Flow stays in close to Pound II's body and controls the position.
Flow wants to get up but he can't break Pound II's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Flow pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Pound II is keeping the position for now.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Flow loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Flow slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Flow tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Flow working the head with strikes.

Flow works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Pound II avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Flow.
Flow scoring with punches and elbows.


It looks like Ground Pound II has been cut.

Flow working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Flow throws a strike aimed at the side of Pound II's head but Pound II avoids it well.

Flow tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Flow remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Evan Flow showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Ground Pound II's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!



Flow throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Pound II was covering up waiting for the punch and Flow finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Flow stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pound II swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Flow trying to control but Pound II is working from the bottom.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Pound II can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Flow controls the pace.
Flow wants to control from the top but Pound II keeps moving.
Flow is looking to work some ground and pound but Pound II has wrist control.
Flow sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Flow tries to free his leg and advance position but Pound II is retaining full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
The fight stays on the outside here - Flow looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Flow gets the takedown into side control.
Pound II is not content to let Flow control the position.
Flow working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Flow decides to stand back up. Flow steps back and let's Pound II get back to his feet.

Flow changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Pound II looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Flow tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Flow is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Pound II knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Flow tries to move into full mount but can't pass Pound II's legs.
Ground Pound II has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Evan Flow is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Flow content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

And that's the end of the fight!
Evan Flow comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Flow has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
