Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Mark Brown! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Joe Smasher! The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Colin Fotheringham and Daniel Bishop.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Brown throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Smasher's waist but Smasher gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Brown off to one side. Brown has a takedown stuffed. Brown keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Smasher misses with a straight left. Brown misses the jab. Smasher fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Brown manages to avoid it. Smasher scores with a hook. Smasher misses with a body kick. Brown walks into a left hand. Brown throws a jab when Smasher was well out of range. Smasher lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Brown is rocked! Mark Brown seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Brown moves out of range as Smasher strikes. Oh Brown is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Smasher loads up on a big right hand but Brown slips the punch. Brown looks for a takedown but Smasher sprawls well. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mark Brown. That's going to take a lot out of him. Brown throws a hook but Smasher blocks it. Brown loads up on a big right hand but Smasher slips the punch. Brown seems to have got his legs back now. Smasher getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Brown bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smasher cracks Brown with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Smasher has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Brown to stand back up! A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Brown. Smasher ducks under a wild hook from Brown. Brown will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Brown throws an overhand right that lands on Smasher's shoulder, as Smasher tries to avoid the shot. Brown tries to score a power double leg takedown but Smasher sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Brown somewhat. Brown is breathing heavily. Smasher throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Brown. Brown gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Smasher is throwing a storm of strikes! Right hook, left hook and follows it up with a spinning back fist! Brown hits the canvas like a rag doll! And just like that, this one is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Joe Smasher! Joe Smasher is the new bantamweight champion!
