PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Red Rum (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mohammad Lowal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lowal has chosen KING KING KING as his entrance music. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Red Rum!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mohammad Lowal!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Frank Dennis and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rum fails with an attempt to clinch.
Rum tries to clinch up but Lowal circles away and keeps his distance.
Red Rum seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rum swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Rum tries to score with a low kick but Lowal moves his leg out of the way.
Rum throws a head kick that Lowal semi-blocks.
Lowal shoots for a double leg takedown but Rum sprawls well. He's pushed Lowal's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Lowal scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Rum tries to control but Lowal manages to take his back.
Lowal just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
Lowal misses with punches from the back.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Lowal controlling the positon.
Lowal doesn't have the hooks in and Rum manages to turn into his guard.
Lowal working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Rum.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Lowal looking for subs off his back but Rum has passed one foot through into half guard.
Rum wants to get back to his feet.
Lowal is looking to escape.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Rum is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Lowal moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Lowal wants to stand but Rum is controlling the position.
Lowal looking for a sweep. Not yet Lowal, not yet.
Rum stays in close to Lowal's body and controls the position.
Lowal manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Rum is trying desperately to improve position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Lowal can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Rum is looking to escape.
Lowal controlling the pace for now.
Rum manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Lowal tries to pass the half guard into mount. Rum knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Lowal is looking to take a break and control but Rum is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Lowal controlling the pace.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rum is looking for a sweep. Lowal is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Lowal controlling the pace.
Rum is staying active underneath Lowal, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Rum looks like he's trying to stand up.
Rum makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Rum.
Lowal controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Red Rum will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Lowal misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Rum.
Lowal tries to clinch but Rum moves away
and Rum counters with a right hand to the body.
Lowal shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Rum throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Lowal is trying hard to land a takedown here. Rum sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Rum tests Lowal's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Rum wants to clinch up but Lowal keeps it at a distance.
Lowal changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Rum tries to avoid it but Lowal manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Rum to the ground. Rum escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Red Rum has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mohammad Lowal.
Rum connects with a right hand. Lowal shakes it off.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Lowal slips a jab and a cross from Rum.
Lowal is breathing heavily.
Rum fails with an attempt to clinch.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Rum, as that shot connected.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rum displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Lowal.
Rum looks to land a combination but Lowal avoids it well.
Rum looks to score with a jab to the body but Lowal is just out of range.
Lowal takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
A cross from Rum lands.
Rum looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Lowal with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Rum to score with a decent uppercut.


Lowal is rocked!
Rum lands a brutal head kick. Lowal looks out on his feet and Rum throws more strikes until the ref is forced to stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Kick and Punches). Red Rum!
