PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Khalil Malla (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Avenlino Srobud (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Malla is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Avenlino Srobud!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Srobud shoots in and bounces Malla off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Malla is breathing heavily.

Despite being in the dominant position, Avenlino Srobud just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Malla tries to keep at a distance but Srobud has taken the fight into the clinch.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Srobud.
Malla takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
You can see the frustration on Malla's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Srobud is looking to take a break and control but Malla is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Srobud is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Srobud wants to control but Malla is keeping him busy.

Srobud has clasped his hands together around Malla's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Malla can't do much from the bottom here.
Malla is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
Srobud really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Malla. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Srobud throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Srobud wants to lay and pray for a moment but Malla keeps working.
Srobud fails to land a wild elbow strike.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Malla gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Srobud scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Avenlino Srobud showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Malla doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Srobud counters with a good, hard body kick but Malla shrugs it off.
Srobud connects with a high kick.
Srobud throws a head kick that misses.
Srobud throws a one two combo.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Srobud closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Malla to the mat! Malla manages to get full guard.

Srobud got a little sloppy there for a moment and Malla has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Srobud has managed to get both his arms back between Malla's legs - danger averted.

Malla is looking for a triangle but Srobud pushes his legs off easily.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Srobud throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Malla was covering up waiting for the punch and Srobud finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Srobud wants to control from the top but Malla keeps moving.
Srobud is fighting to break Malla's control of his arms but Malla is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Srobud loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Malla is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Avenlino Srobud is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and Srobud counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Malla!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Avenlino Srobud comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Srobud has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
