Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Paulo Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gary Larson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Paulo Alves has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Paulo Alves seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Paulo Alves! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gary Larson! The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Edson Gomes and Daniel Cesar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Larson closes the distance and clinches. Alves wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Larson has him pressed against the cage. Alves tries to break the clinch but Larson is controlling the position. Alves tries to break the clinch but Larson is controlling the position. Larson working hard to break the clinch. Alves wants to break free but Larson has control.
Alves tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Larson smiles and moves away.
No joy there for Alves, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

He'll be looking to tighten that up but Larson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Alves keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Larson shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Alves as he avoids it easily. Larson is looking to clinch. Larson jabs at Alves's body. Alves tries to keep at a distance but Larson has taken the fight into the clinch. Larson tries to pull guard but Alves holds him up against the cage and eventually Larson drops back down to his feet.
Alves looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Alves breaks from the clinch.
Alves misses with an uppercut. Larson saw that one coming. Alves throws a left and a right that both miss
and Larson counters with a one-two to the body. Larson clinches up with Alves and pushes him back against the cage.

Larson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Larson wants to pass to mount but Alves is defending the position. Larson is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Alves! Larson tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Alves is squirming around, avoiding Larson's attempts to control the action. Larson might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Alves kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alves keeping moving, preventing Larson from controlling successfully. Alves can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Larson controls the pace. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Alves looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Larson passes into half guard.

and Larson counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Larson fails with a takedown attempt. Larson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Alves as he jumps to the side. Larson misses with a double jab.
Larson looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. No luck with that takedown attempt from Larson. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Gary Larson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!

Larson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Alves keeps working. Larson stops Alves from getting back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Larson trying to control from half guard but Alves is working away.

Alves bucks up and tries to throw Larson off but instead Larson has got his back! Alves is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet. Alves is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Alves rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Larson prevents Alves from improving his position. Alves wants to get back to his feet.

Paulo Alves is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Larson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Alves sprawls well. Alves wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Larson gets slowly back to his feet. Larson walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. With the fighters clinched against the cage, Larson creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Alves tries to break the clinch but Larson is controlling the position. Larson taking a breather. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Alves has had enough of the clinch but Larson keeps him there for the moment. Gary Larson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Larson is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Alves pulls him back up using the underhooks. Alves working aggressively here.
And that's the end of the fight! Gary Larson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Larson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today.
