Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Derek Cote (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Henry Pollock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Derek Cote! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Henry Pollock! The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Eliza Hachem and Hugh Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cote misses with a two punch combination.
Cote finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Pollock connects with a single shot there. Cote throws a right hand that Pollock ducks under and follows up with a left that Pollock also avoids with ease. A leg kick checked by Pollock. Cote fails to land with a series of punches.
Cote slaps away a takedown attempt from Pollock, before circling back to the center of the mat. Cote misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

A combination from Cote does no damage. Cote scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Derek Cote seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Pollock gets the takedown into side control. Pollock connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Cote some visible discomfort.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Pollock tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Pollock has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Pollock has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Cote tries to improve position but can't. Cote wants to get back to his feet but Pollock drags him back down. Pollock wants to control but Cote is keeping him busy. Cote is looking to regain half guard here but Pollock keeps moving and retains side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cote can't do much from the bottom here. Pollock stands up and we're back to a striking position. Cote throws a series of punches but Pollock moves out of range. Cote misses with a wild combination.

No joy there for Cote, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Pollock shoots in and drives through. Cote sprawls well. Pollock looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Cote is fending him off so far but Pollock persists. Nope, Cote circles away and we're back to standing. Cote misses with a wild combination.
Pollock tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Cote swivels and escapes. Pollock looks gassed! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Cote fails to land with a series of punches.

Henry Pollock dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Cote will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Pollock drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Pollock decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Cote, up you get! Pollock uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Cote.
Cote's corner calls for a 1-2. Cote obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Cote throws a series of punches but Pollock avoids them all with ease. Cote slaps away a takedown attempt from Pollock, before circling back to the center of the mat. Cote throws a looping overhand right but Pollock ducks down to avoid it. Pollock tries for a takedown but Cote sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Cote throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Derek Cote has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Henry Pollock. Cote throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Cote lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Cote misses with a jab, cross combination.
Cote throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Pollock sees it coming and avoids it easily. Pollock keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Cote stuffs the takedown. Cote walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Pollock checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side. Cote misses with a hook. Pollock ducked under it nicely. Pollock avoids the body shot from Cote.
Cote misses with a low kick. Cote throws a series of punches but Pollock avoids them all with ease. Pollock looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Cote gets back to full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Pollock looking to control the position here, rather than advance. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Pollock accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Cote looking to hit a scissor sweep but Pollock is one step ahead there. Cote is controlling Pollock's posture. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cote is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Cote is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Pollock throws a strike but Cote rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Cote stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pollock swivels though and keeps the full guard. Pollock is pulling down on Cote's head. It's preventing any offense from Cote, at least for the moment. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Henry Pollock will probably get the nod - 10:9. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Pollock bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Pollock wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Cote, who protects the arm well. Pollock takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. The strikes coming from Pollock are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Pollock postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Cote tries to bench press Pollock off him but Pollock keeps the position. Cote wants to control but Pollock postures up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pollock has hold of Cote's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Cote seems comfortable defending it but Pollock has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Cote is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Cote is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Pollock couldn't care less - he's delighted!
