Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mestre Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlo Ruis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gracie comes to the cage accompanied by Enia - Tema Gladiador. Mestre Gracie has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mestre Gracie! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Carlo Ruis! The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Steve Erwin and Skip Squint.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gracie moves out of range as Ruis strikes. Ruis leaves Gracie with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Gracie. Ruis wants to clinch. Ruis stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Ruis wants it to stay on the feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mestre Gracie. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ruis defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Gracie. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gracie is trying hard to land a takedown here. Ruis sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Carlo Ruis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. The fight stays on the outside here - Ruis looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Ruis shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Gracie is trying to defend but Ruis finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Ruis is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Excellent takedown into side control there by Ruis. Ruis blocks the strikes from Gracie.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gracie takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Gracie is looking for a sweep. Ruis is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Gracie sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ruis performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Gracie has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Gracie is looking for a sweep. Ruis is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Gracie is breathing heavily. Ruis wants to stand up but Gracie is controlling the position.
Gracie flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Ruis decides to stand and escape the position. Ruis looks to score with a jab to the body but Gracie is just out of range.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ruis tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gracie swats him away and circles back towards the center. Gracie dodges the punch combination from Ruis.
Ruis misses with an uppercut. Ruis looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. Ruis swings for the body but Gracie moves out of range.
Gracie misses with a takedown and Ruis counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Gracie trying to strike off his back.
Ruis trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ruis is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Ruis postures up and lands a big shot to Gracie's brow. Ruis drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Ruis jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Gracie throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Ruis stays in close to Gracie's body and controls the position. Gracie trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Gracie gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Ruis counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Ruis controls from within his opponent's guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Carlo Ruis dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Gracie doesn't succeed with the takedown and Ruis counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Gracie! Ruis controlling his opponent. Carlo Ruis has got the better of the ground game so far. A nice elbow there by Ruis. Ruis takes Gracie's back, avoiding a couple of desperation strikes from the bottom.
Gracie fending off the submission attempt from Ruis. Ruis doesn't have the hooks in and Gracie manages to turn into his guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Ruis seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gracie drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Ruis dives on top into guard. Gracie will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Gracie will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Ruis looking to pass the guard. Gracie tries to strike from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Gracie trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Ruis showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Ruis scoring with punches to the head and body. Gracie thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Ruis drops back, looking for a kneebar! Gracie looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Gracie looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Gracie! Ruis tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Gracie wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ruis is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Ruis makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Ruis. Ruis is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Gracie drops back looking for a leg! Ruis is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Ruis manages to kick Gracie off! Gracie jumps back into Ruis's guard. Ruis seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Gracie preventing the sweep. Ruis seems keen to control Gracie's posture. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Carlo Ruis showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Gracie's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!
Ruis lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Gracie backs up against the cage.
Ruis changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Gracie looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Gracie tries to improve position but can't. Ruis content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. Gracie misses with a strike from the bottom. You can see the frustration on Gracie's face as Ruis controls the position. Gracie misses with an elbow from the bottom. Ruis avoids the strikes from the bottom by Gracie. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Gracie is trying to get back to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ruis decides to stand up, so the ref orders Gracie to his feet. Ruis looks to land a left hand but Gracie moved out of range nicely. Ruis misses with a two punch combination.
Gracie misses with a takedown and Ruis counters with a nice double leg into side control. Gracie won't be happy with that. Gracie trying to remain calm as Ruis controls from the top position. Gracie throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ruis passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Gracie! Gracie throws a strike from the bottom but Ruis uses the opportunity to take his back. A bit of a pause in the action here. Ruis controlling the positon.
Despite being in the dominant position, Carlo Ruis just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Ruis tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Ruis swings for the body but Gracie moves out of range.
Gracie avoids a punch combination nicely.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ruis lands with a nice body punch. Ruis clinches up against the cage. Gracie drops down looking for an ankle pick but Ruis pulls his leg out and moves away.
Ruis wants to clinch up but Gracie keeps it at a distance. Gracie fails with the takedown and Ruis counters with a takedown into side control. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mestre Gracie. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ruis stands up and beckons Gracie to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ruis rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Gracie moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Ruis punishes Gracie's body with a nice straight punch. Ruis shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Ruis blocks Gracie's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom. Gracie throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing. Gracie is bucking up trying to escape but Ruis cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Ruis controlling from the full mount. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Gracie tries to reverse the position but Ruis maintains control. Mestre Gracie has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Carlo Ruis is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Gracie throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.
And that's the end of the fight! Carlo Ruis comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Ruis has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
