PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Miguel Del Soto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aiden White (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Miguel Del Soto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Aiden White!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Alan Glass and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
White looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
White swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Del Soto looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Del Soto misses with a takedown attempt - White sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Del Soto connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
White misses with a double jab
and Del Soto counters with a good low kick that White was not able to check.
Aiden White seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Del Soto circles away from the clinch attempt.

Del Soto shoots in and bounces White off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Del Soto wants to control from the top but White keeps moving.
White utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Del Soto wants to stand but White has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

It looks like Miguel Del Soto has been cut.
A low kick from White is predictable there
and Del Soto counters with a two punch combo.
White displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Del Soto.
White tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Del Soto was well out of range. Poor timing from White.
Del Soto doesn't succeed with the takedown
and White counters with a lovely shot to the body.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Del Soto fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but White avoids it really well and circles away.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
White lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
White avoids the attempt from Del Soto to control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
White cracks Del Soto with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
White has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Del Soto's face.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


White slaps away a takedown attempt from Del Soto, before circling back to the center of the mat.

White manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Del Soto manages to get himself to full guard.

White thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Del Soto thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
White throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Del Soto works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Del Soto is trying to control the position but White postures up.

Del Soto has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes White off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

White is looking for a sweep. Del Soto is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now White is on top in guard.

Del Soto has one of White's arms on lockdown, trying to prevent him from doing any damage.

White is trying to move to mount but Del Soto reverses beautifully and ends up in White's guard.

Del Soto slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

White lands with an overhand left.
Del Soto uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from White.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

White misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Del Soto tries to reverse the position but White maintains control.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, White cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
White takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

You get the feeling that Del Soto really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Del Soto is desperately trying to improve his position but White has a good base and remains in mount.

White lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Del Soto sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Aiden White comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well White has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
