Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mario Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ronaldinho Gaucho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gaucho is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Ready to Die - Andrew W.K . Gaucho has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Ronaldinho Gaucho will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mario Smith! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ronaldinho Gaucho! The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Luis Engracia and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smith looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Gaucho looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Smith is stalling in the full guard. Smith might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Gaucho is working an open guard so Smith takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Smith looks for a takedown but Gaucho sprawls well. Smith throws a combination. Gaucho tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Smith chopping away at his opponent's legs.

That's one minute gone in the round. Smith tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Gaucho paws at him with a jab and circles away. Smith with a body punch. A glancing blow. Smith is looking to clinch. Smith gets a takedown into half guard. Smith stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Gaucho to get to his feet. Smith lands with a cross.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gaucho stuffs the takedown. Smith pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Smith closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Smith stands up. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Gaucho circles away from the clinch attempt.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Smith changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Gaucho tries to avoid it but Smith manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Gaucho to the ground. Gaucho escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Gaucho has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Smith finds it's way round the side to connect with Gaucho's head. Smith lunges at Gaucho with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Gaucho's hand. A cross from Smith lands. Smith feints and as Gaucho raises his hands in defense, Smith changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Smith wants to control from the top but Gaucho keeps moving. Smith advances to half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Smith is nestled in close to Gaucho, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gaucho is staying active underneath Smith, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Gaucho keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Smith trying to control the action but Gaucho is working from the bottom. Gaucho is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Smith pulls his head out easily. Smith is looking to advance position but Gaucho won't allow it.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Good shot there by Smith. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Smith is looking to clinch but Gaucho is avoiding it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mario Smith dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Smith tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Gaucho paws at him with a jab and circles away. Smith fails miserably with a takedown attempt. That's going to take a lot out of him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gaucho gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Smith landing some decent shots from guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Smith throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Gaucho works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smith stands up over Gaucho, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Smith trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Gaucho wants to sweep but no luck. Gaucho is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Smith is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Smith's corner. There ya go! There ya go! The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Gaucho wants to sweep here but Smith controlling him for the moment. Smith landing some decent shots from guard. Smith trying to control but Gaucho is working from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Smith working some strikes from top position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Smith wants to control from the top but Gaucho keeps moving. Smith has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Smith tries to free his leg and advance position but Gaucho is retaining full guard. Smith is pushing down on Gaucho's leg trying to pass to half guard. Gaucho is fighting to maintain full guard but Smith has managed to sneak the leg through. Gaucho looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Smith pushes past his half guard into mount! Gaucho is trying desperately to improve position. Smith controlling the pace for now. Smith lands with some strikes.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A nice elbow there by Smith. Smith content just to control the position here. Smith looking to secure an arm triangle but Gaucho defends it well. Smith prevents Gaucho from getting the reversal. Smith gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks! Smith throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Gaucho was covering up waiting for the punch and Smith finishes the takedown easily into guard. Smith with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Smith drops back looking for a leg! Gaucho is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Gaucho manages to kick Smith off! Smith jumps back into Gaucho's guard. Gaucho looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Gaucho working for submissions but it's allowed Smith to get to half guard.
Gaucho looking for a kimura from the bottom but Smith passes into side control! Gaucho is looking for a sweep. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mario Smith dominated that second round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Smith. Gaucho shrugs it off though. Smith drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Gaucho keeping moving, preventing Smith from controlling successfully. Smith landing some decent shots from guard. Smith gets to his feet - Gaucho follows without any prompting. Smith shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Gaucho as he jumps to the side. A nice combination there by Smith.
Mario Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smith displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Gaucho has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Smith tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gaucho swats him away and circles back towards the center. Smith gets the takedown into side control. Smith is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Gaucho looks to move to half guard but instead Smith has passed into mount! Damn! Smith is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Gaucho can do to turn this around? Smith lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Smith can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Gaucho is looking to escape. Smith landing punches. Gaucho is squirming around, avoiding Smith's attempts to control the action. Gaucho is trying desperately to improve position. Smith scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Gaucho?

That's three minutes gone in the round. Smith breaks from Gaucho's wrist control and lands an elbow. Gaucho is looking to improve his position but Smith isn't that keen on the idea. Smith working for a submission but Gaucho is keeping him at bay. Gaucho is wriggling around trying to escape.
Smith scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Mario Smith overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Smith takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Smith is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Gaucho has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here. Smith is looking for the choke from the back position but Gaucho is controlling his hands well.
And that's the end of the fight! Mario Smith showed his dominance in that final round. Well Smith has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
