PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Paddy Ryan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Faceplantio Earnosio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ryan comes to the cage accompanied by Tessie. Faceplantio Earnosio told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ryan just misses with a punch to the body.
Nice takedown defense from Ryan. No joy for Earnosio on that attempt.
Earnosio shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Ryan pinned against the cage. Ryan gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Ryan moves forwards but Earnosio connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Earnosio lands a big shot that drops Ryan! Can he finish him?
Earnosio throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Ryan works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Earnosio trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Earnosio accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Ryan manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Earnosio manages to get himself to full guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ryan working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Earnosio is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Ryan seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Earnosio tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Earnosio is controlling Ryan's posture.
Ryan chips away with some ground and pound.
Ryan throws a big right hand that misses.
Ryan is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Earnosio can do anything to dispel that myth.
Ryan is working Earnosio over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Earnosio is trying to keep Ryan in close.
Ryan stays in close to Earnosio's body and controls the position.
Ryan lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Earnosio manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Ryan manages to get himself to full guard.
Ryan has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Earnosio won't allow Ryan to get back to his feet.

Ryan has his hands on Earnosio's head, controlling the position.
Ryan bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Earnosio's guard.
Ryan passes Earnosio's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Ryan throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Earnosio is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Ryan pulls his head out easily.
Ryan not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Ryan takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Ryan wants to take a breather but Earnosio is having none of it.
Earnosio is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Ryan misses with a hook. Earnosio ducked under it nicely.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Earnosio thows a huge punch but Ryan dodges it nicely.

Ryan is landing with some decent strikes but Earnosio is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Earnosio tries to lock up and control but Ryan gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Earnosio really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ryan. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
