Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, joel rivera! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Shane Flair! The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Dean Styles and Reed Andrews.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Flair feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Flair wanted to stand there but rivera had control of the position. Flair postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! rivera is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Flair, into his guard. Flair looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

That's one minute gone in the round. Flair escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. rivera gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Flair is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. rivera will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Flair looks gassed! Flair utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Flair is trying to keep rivera in close.
rivera trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. rivera wants to control from the top but Flair keeps moving. Flair really doesn't want to stay on the ground with rivera. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Flair shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches rivera napping and manages to drive through into side control!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Flair swings around for an armbar but rivera sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Flair's guard. rivera postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Flair keeping moving, preventing rivera from controlling successfully. rivera postures up in Flair's guard and throws a big left but Flair blocks it. Flair doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. rivera wants to control from the top but Flair keeps moving. rivera is pushing down on Flair's leg trying to pass to half guard. Flair is fighting to maintain full guard but rivera has managed to sneak the leg through. Flair is refusing to be controlled, as rivera sits in half guard. Flair has a hand on rivera's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. rivera takes advantage of the position though and mounts him! Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! rivera is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Flair is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Flair flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. rivera anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Flair and secures both hooks! This could be bad! rivera slips an arm under Flair chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. rivera has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. rivera is squeezing on Flair like an anaconda would it's prey. Flair fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
