Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ru Born (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Malaka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ru Born could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to John Malaka's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ru Born!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, John Malaka!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Hirohito Nitta and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Born fails to land the takedown.
Born fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Born misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Born shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Malaka is trying to defend but Born finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Malaka has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Born is working away from the top position though.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Born connects with a nice short shot to Malaka's temple.

Malaka shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Born counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Born is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Malaka is just riding it out for now. Born eventually gives up the hold.

Born tries to pass the half guard into mount. Malaka knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Born seems to be working for a kimura but Malaka defends the submission attempt.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Malaka lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Born is squirming around, avoiding Malaka's attempts to control the action.

Born really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Malaka postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Born looks a forlorn figure.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Ru Born will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

and Malaka counters with a nice double leg into side control. Born won't be happy with that.
Born wants to control but Malaka postures up.
Born is looking for a sweep.

Malaka tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Malaka is looking to take a break and control but Born is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Malaka tries to stand but can't do so whilst Born controls his leg.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Born on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

Malaka seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Born does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Malaka is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Born fails with the takedown

and Malaka counters by clinching up.
Come on Malaka - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Born tries to pull guard but Malaka holds him up against the cage and eventually Born drops back down to his feet.

Malaka is trying to maintain a safe position but Born gets an underhook and turns Malaka into the cage.
Born has Malaka pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Malaka manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Born drops back looking for a leg! Malaka is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Malaka manages to kick Born off! Born jumps back into Malaka's guard.

Born loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Born trying to control the position from guard on top but Malaka is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Malaka scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Malaka showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Born's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Born drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Born seems to have locked his on tight now - Malaka screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Born, as he picks up the win!
