The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Newsome is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in luna's half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Newsome is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
luna really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Newsome. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Newsome has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can luna defend it? Newsome steps over the head and cranks it - luna is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Newsome!
