The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Bruno Hogan and Damien Edna.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Downes fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Menoleus avoids it really well and circles away.
Downes is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Menoleus displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Downes.
Downes tries to land a front kick but Menoleus steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Downes fails to land the takedown.
Socrates Menoleus has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Matt Downes.
Downes shoots in for a double leg but Menoleus sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Downes swings for the body but Menoleus moves out of range.

Menoleus stuffs the takedown attempt from Downes. Downes gets slowly back to his feet.

Downes shoots in and drives through. Menoleus sprawls well.

Downes decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Menoleus is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Downes pulls his head out easily.
Menoleus is pressing down on Downes's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Downes throwing strikes from guard but Menoleus blocks nicely.
Menoleus is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Downes is aware though and is defending well.
Menoleus has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Downes doesn't defend quickly enough and Menoleus has managed to lock this one up! Can Downes escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Menoleus on a fantastic submission victory.
