Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Not John Smythe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Stein (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stein has chosen Rolling Stones - Paint it Black as his entrance music. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Not John Smythe! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, John Stein! The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, John Mangel and Bruno Hogan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stein checks a low kick from Smythe. Smythe throws a solid leg kick but Stein takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Smythe. Stein fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Stein throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A looping hook to the body misses from Smythe. Stein does a little dance to reset his feet. Smythe with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Smythe leaves Stein with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Smythe throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Smythe cracks the inside of Stein's front leg. A bone on bone clash there as Stein blocks the leg kick.

Stein looks to land a combination but Smythe avoids it well. Stein looks gassed! Smythe swings for the body but Stein moves out of range.

Stein throws a right hand that Smythe ducks under and follows up with a left that Smythe also avoids with ease. Smythe digs a good body shot into Stein's ribs. Stein tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Smythe throws a leg kick but Stein moved away. A right-left combo lands from Smythe. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Stein checks a leg kick nicely.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smythe pivots, looking for a leg kick but Stein is out of range and Smythe settles back down. John Stein seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Smythe throws a nice inside leg kick. Smythe moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Stein checks a leg kick nicely. Stein gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Smythe to score an easy takedown into full guard. Smythe loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Smythe wants to control from the top but Stein keeps moving. Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Smythe closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Smythe lands in his opponent's guard. Smythe chips away with some ground and pound. Smythe loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Smythe won't allow Stein to sweep him here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Smythe is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Smythe prevents Stein from getting back to his feet. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Smythe's corner. There ya go! There ya go! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Smythe tries to free his leg and advance position but Stein is retaining full guard. Smythe working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Smythe landing with the ground and pound. Smythe trying to control but Stein is working from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Stein bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Smythe's guard. Smythe looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Smythe lands some strikes from the bottom. Smythe is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Smythe utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Stein trying to control but Smythe is working from the bottom.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Smythe buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
A combination from Stein does no damage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Stein swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Smythe counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Smythe throws a low kick but it's checked well by Stein. Stein avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Stein takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Smythe scores with a push kick. Smythe lands with a good body shot. Smythe looks to score with a jab to the body but Stein is just out of range. Smythe closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Smythe lands in his opponent's guard. Smythe is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Smythe avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Good work by Stein as he checks the leg kick. Stein fails with the takedown so Smythe counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Smythe lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Smythe throws a big right hand that misses. Stein is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Smythe defends well. Smythe with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Smythe advances position into side control! Smythe wants to control but Stein is keeping him busy. Stein taking punishment in the form of punches.
Stein takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Stein is breathing heavily. You can see the frustration on Stein's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Stein tries to bench press Smythe off him but Smythe keeps the position. Smythe is working Stein over with some ground and pound from side control. Smythe scoring with punches and elbows. Smythe connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Stein some visible discomfort.
Stein takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Smythe is chipping away with strikes.

Smythe lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Stein down.
Stein is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Smythe will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Stein tries to get back to half guard but can't. Stein really wants to buck Smythe off and get back to his feet. Stein in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Smythe pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Smythe postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Stein looks a forlorn figure.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Smythe has hold of Stein's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Stein manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Smythe wants to control from the top but Stein keeps moving. Smythe has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Stein's head. The fighters are battling for position here. Stein manages to regain full guard. Nice work. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Stein can do anything to dispel that myth. Stein is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Smythe rolls with it to try and escape but Stein cranks on the arm and Smythe is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
