The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hyman tries to bum rush Kangas with a series of wild strikes but Kangas uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Hyman tries for a takedown but Kangas sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Kangas shoots in looking for a takedown. Hyman tries to sprawl out of it but Kangas keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Hyman manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Kangas closes this distance looking for a takedown but Hyman circles away.
Kangas doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Hyman counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Hyman unloads with some shots from mount but Kangas bucks and avoids them well.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Kangas regains half guard.
Kangas trying to control from the bottom.
Hyman slows the pace down in half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Kangas knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hyman on the ground.

Hyman decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gredgory Hyman dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Hyman looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Despite being in the dominant position, Gredgory Hyman just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
