PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Gun Show (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hoffman Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jones has chosen Elephant Man - Haters (feat Hunt & Jim Jones) as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Hoffman Jones will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Gun Show!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Hoffman Jones!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Paul Aken and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Jones looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Show shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Show was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Jones tries to reverse the position but Show maintains control.
Jones really wants to buck Show off and get back to his feet.
Show prevents Jones from getting the reversal.
Jones really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Show. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Show lands with some strikes.
Show tries to control but Jones wriggling away.

Show is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Jones has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Jones!

Show looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Show wants to sweep but no luck.

Jones drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Show manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Jones has Show in his guard.
Show really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Jones has his foot on Show's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Show works his way back into a safe position though.

Show is nestled in close to Jones, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jones is refusing to be controlled, as Show sits in half guard.
Show is pressing down on Jones's thigh, looking to free his foot. Jones is holding on for now.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Show shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Jones but Jones pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Jones motions for Show to come forward. Jones throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Jones misses with a few strikes there.
Jones wants to clinch.
Hoffman Jones is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Show goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Jones rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Show's guard! Nice work there by Jones!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Show wants to sweep here but Jones controlling him for the moment.
Jones throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Show works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Jones fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Show looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Show slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Show wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Show stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jones swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Show looking to sit in guard and control but Jones gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jones is pressed up against the cage. Show has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Jones down to the mat. Jones avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
