Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jason Young (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roids Cannuck (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cannuck has chosen Atreyu - Honor as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jason Young! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Roids Cannuck! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Yves DeLean and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Young closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Young creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Cannuck sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Cannuck regains half guard. Young has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Cannuck trying to control but Young postures up.
Cannuck is positioning himself well to prevent Young advancing to mount. Young is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Cannuck has managed to free his arm - good work. Young missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Cannuck has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Young is working away from the top position though.
That's one minute gone in the round. Young wants to take a breather but Cannuck is having none of it. Cannuck wants to improve his position but Young is controlling well.

Young is looking for a kimura but Cannuck is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Young to get the leverage. Young trying to control from half guard but Cannuck is working away. Cannuck makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Cannuck. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cannuck lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Young!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cannuck lands a big shot there that rocks Young but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Young tries to hold on but Cannuck pushes him away. Young throwing hammer fists to the chest of Cannuck. What's that going to do exactly? Cannuck looking to control and managing it successfully. Cannuck landing strikes from the mount and Young is in trouble!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cannuck has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Young's face.
It looks like Jason Young has been cut. Young gets back to half guard. Young slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. This has been an exciting period of action! Young had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Cannuck defends it easily. Cannuck throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Young works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Young looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Cannuck trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Cannuck trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Young looking to control.

Roids Cannuck dominated that round. The cut man is working on Jason Young's cut. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Cannuck takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Cannuck ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Young throws a shot from downtown. Cannuck moves away and avoids it. A big right from Young misses. Cannuck wants to clinch up but Young keeps it at a distance. Young tries to score a power double leg takedown but Cannuck sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Young somewhat. Cannuck drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Young throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cannuck postures up and lands a big shot to Young's brow. Young controls Cannuck momentarily but Cannuck frees himself. Young preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Cannuck trying to control the position from guard on top but Young is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Cannuck with a nice head shot there. Cannuck loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Young looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Cannuck stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Young swivels though and keeps the full guard. Roids Cannuck has got the better of the ground game so far. Cannuck throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Cannuck must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Young keeping moving, preventing Cannuck from controlling successfully. Young trying to control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Young is really struggling to control Cannuck but he's trying to hold on to the position. Cannuck loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Cannuck fails with the takedown and Young counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Cannuck tries for a takedown but Young circles away easily and Young counters with a takedown into side control. Young passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Cannuck! Cannuck is squirming around, avoiding Young's attempts to control the action.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cannuck stops Young from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better. Cannuck really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Young is in the full mount, landing strikes.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Young sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Young sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Young is in the full mount, landing strikes. Cannuck tries to get back to half guard but can't. Young scores with a couple of good head shots there.

Young scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Young throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Cannuck was covering up waiting for the punch and Young finishes the takedown easily into guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Cannuck can do anything to dispel that myth. Young is looking to work some ground and pound but Cannuck has wrist control. Cannuck keeping moving, preventing Young from controlling successfully. It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Young here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man. Young wants to pass the guard but Cannuck is keeping the position. Cannuck tries to land a sweep but no joy.
That's one minute gone in the round. Young in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Young trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Cannuck manages to land a sweep and now he's on top! Young seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Cannuck stands up over Young, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Young keeping moving, preventing Cannuck from controlling successfully. Cannuck makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Cannuck wants to control from the top but Young keeps moving.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Young pulls Cannuck in close to prevent any damage. Cannuck trying to control but Young is working from the bottom. Young looking to control.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. No joy there for Young, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cannuck on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Cannuck avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Cannuck has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Cannuck there as he acknowledges the shot. Young connects with a nice looking jab.
Cannuck slips under a jab from Young. Roids Cannuck is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Young throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Cannuck bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Cannuck takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Young lands with a right hand.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Young scores with a shot to the body.
Young shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Young showed some decent athleticism there. Cannuck keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Young is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

And that's the end of the fight! Jason Young showed his dominance in that final round. Well Young has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
