Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Fred Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ken Hansen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Fred Jones has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 2 - 2, fighting out of Tokyo, Fred Jones! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Ken Hansen! The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Ren Mimura and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hansen is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. Jones throws a low kick but it's checked well by Hansen. Jones looks to land a combination but Hansen avoids it well. Hansen scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Hansen fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Jones sprawls well initially but Hansen persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Hansen looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Hansen thows a huge punch but Jones dodges it nicely.
Jones keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Hansen throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Hansen throwing shots but Jones is blocking nicely. Jones knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hansen on the ground. Hansen tries to pass to full mount but Jones defends it. Hansen is thwarting Jones's attempts to control the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hansen thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Jones misses the shot to the body. Hansen scores with a jab to the body. Jones throws a leg kick that is checked and Hansen counters with a shoot takedown. Jones fights it but they end up in guard. Hansen with a flurry of punches that miss. Jones controls Hansen momentarily but Hansen frees himself. Jones on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Jones tries to get out of the position. Hansen tries to free his leg and advance position but Jones is retaining full guard. Hansen drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hansen jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jones is adopting a defensive guard. Hansen wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving. Hansen throwing strikes from guard but Jones blocks nicely.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Hansen shoots in for a double leg but Jones sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Hansen takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards. Hansen on the wrong end of a nice jab.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones connects with a jab. Jones throws a leg kick but Hansen sees it coming and checks it nicely. Jones throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Hansen sees it coming and avoids it easily. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Hansen, right into the meat.
A shot to the body from Jones misses letting Hansen counter with a right hand. A punch combination from Jones misses. Hansen moves out of range as Jones strikes. Hansen tests Jones's chin there with a solid looking shot. Hansen staying out of range there. Hansen cracks the inside of Jones's front leg. Jones catches Hansen with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Hansen fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Hansen chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Jones looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Hansen scores with a push kick.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hansen throws a nice outside leg kick. Jones pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Jones finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Jones misses with a body shot.
Jones throws a leg kick and Hansen counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Jones keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Hansen is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Jones is trying to get back to full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Hansen is working for a submission of some sort.
Hansen throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ken Hansen dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Jones fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Hansen looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Hansen dodges the punch combination from Jones.
Jones throws a combination that misses and Hansen counters with a body kick that stops Jones in his tracks momentarily. Hansen tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Jones swivels and escapes. Jab, jab by Jones - just one landing. Hansen paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Hansen waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Jones. Hansen cracks a nice hook into Jones's ribs. Jones throws a combination that misses and Hansen counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Good leg kick by Hansen there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Jones swings and misses with a shot to the body and Hansen counters with a takedown into side control. Jones prevents Hansen from moving into mount. Hansen trying to control the action but Jones is working from the bottom. The ground and pound from Hansen seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones struggling a bit here. Hansen throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Hansen working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Hansen throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Hansen working the ground and pound. Hansen lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Jones down.
Hansen has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Hansen trying to control the position but Jones is working away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Hansen throws a strike aimed at the side of Jones's head but Jones avoids it well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jones prevents Hansen from improving position. Hansen working the strikes but Jones uses the opportunity to regain half guard. Jones is looking to control Hansen's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Jones avoid being mounted? Hansen working over Jones with some ground and pound. Jones looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Hansen thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Jones is looking to control Hansen's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Jones avoid being mounted? Hansen throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Hansen wants to pass to mount but Jones is defending the position. Hansen sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Jones defending well though.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Jones keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Hansen gets the takedown into side control. Jones is looking for a sweep. Jones is working hard here to advance position. Jones dodges the ground and pound from Hansen. Hansen tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Hansen is breathing heavily. Hansen in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ken Hansen showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!
Jones takes a swing at Hansen's ribcage but misses. Hansen swings for the body but Jones moves out of range.
Nice sprawl there from Jones as Hansen shoots in. Jones throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Jones swings away with a leg kick that misses. Hansen keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Jones misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Hansen shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Jones sprawls well. Jones wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Hansen gets slowly back to his feet. Hansen looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Jones is fending him off so far but Hansen persists. Nope, Jones circles away and we're back to standing. Fred Jones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ken Hansen. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jones just misses with a punch to the body.
Jones jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Jones lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Hansen has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Hansen and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Hansen throws a series of punches but Jones avoids them all with ease. Jones falls off balance throwing a combination
and Hansen counters with a shoot takedown. Jones fights it but they end up in guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones controlling Hansen's posture. Hansen is looking to work some ground and pound but Jones has wrist control. Hansen wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving. Hansen throws and elbow that misses. Jones uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Hansen's guard. Nice move by Jones! Jones wants to control from the top but Hansen keeps moving.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Hansen is on top in guard.
Hansen seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Hansen throws a big right hand that misses. Jones trying to keep a closed guard but Hansen is proving a slippery customer.
Hansen postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Hansen missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Hansen throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hansen accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Hansen wants to pass the guard but Jones is keeping the position. Jones can't keep his opponent in guard - Hansen advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Jones wants to control but Hansen is keeping busy and won't allow it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Hansen looks to land a strike but Jones avoids it nicely and regains full guard. Fred Jones has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Jones managing to control the position. Jones trying to keep a closed guard but Hansen is proving a slippery customer.
Hansen is working Jones over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Hansen works a leg free and moves into half guard. Ken Hansen is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Hansen wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jones keeps working.
And that's the end of the fight! Ken Hansen comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Hansen winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
