PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jimmy Crack Corn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam Uri (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Crack Corn comes to the cage accompanied by Jimmy cracks heads and he dont care. Sam Uri has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jimmy Crack Corn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Sam Uri!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Summer Carpenter and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Uri fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Uri takes one to the chin there.

Uri gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Crack Corn to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Uri is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Crack Corn defends well.
Uri is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Crack Corn drops back looking for a leg! Uri is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Uri manages to kick Crack Corn off! Crack Corn jumps back into Uri's guard.

Uri had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Crack Corn defends it easily.
Crack Corn has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Uri tries to land a sweep but no joy.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Crack Corn is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Uri is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Uri has escaped and now he's on top!
Crack Corn wants to get back to his feet but Uri is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Uri is looking for a kimura but Crack Corn is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Uri to get the leverage.

Crack Corn wants to get back to his feet.
Uri wants to take a breather but Crack Corn is having none of it.

Crack Corn has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Uri can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Uri decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Uri seems to be working for a kimura but Crack Corn defends the submission attempt.

Crack Corn's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Crack Corn duly obliges.
Uri jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Jimmy Crack Corn is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Uri looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Crack Corn thuds his right hand into Uri's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Uri is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Crack Corn throwing shots but Uri is blocking nicely.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
The crowd cheers as Crack Corn lands an impressive looking overhand right. Uri doesn't seem phased though.

Crack Corn closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Uri manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Uri slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Uri is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Crack Corn is trying to maintain the position but Uri is very close to passing his half guard.

Crack Corn misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Uri is defended easily by Crack Corn.

Uri takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

Crack Corn is fighting off a takedown attempt but Uri is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Crack Corn to the mat. Crack Corn regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Crack Corn gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Uri shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Crack Corn manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

I would just about give that final round to Sam Uri.
