Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Shamus Burby (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Crash Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Shamus Burby!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Crash Davis!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Konstantin Menshow and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burby fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Burby throws a right hand that Davis ducks under and follows up with a left that Davis also avoids with ease.
Burby with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Shamus Burby seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Burby misses with a low kick.
Horrible takedown by Burby or perhaps it was just good defense by Davis which made him look bad.

Burby gets a takedown into half guard.
Davis is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Davis manages to get to full guard.
Davis is trying to control the position but Burby postures up.
Burby looking to pass the guard.
Davis pulls Burby in close to prevent any damage.
Davis not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Burby pushing down on Davis's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Davis is staying active underneath Burby, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Davis tries to get to full guard but Burby has control of the leg.

Davis has his foot on Burby's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Burby works his way back into a safe position though.

Burby stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Davis swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Burby wants to control from the top but Davis keeps moving.
Davis is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Davis is looking for a triangle here but Burby uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
You can see the frustration on Davis's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Burby tries to advance to mount but Davis denies him.

Burby looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Davis is looking to reverse the position.

Burby has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Burby tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Burby tries for a takedown but Davis sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shamus Burby. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Burby shoots for a double leg takedown but Davis sprawls well. He's pushed Burby's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Davis misses with a takedown attempt - Burby sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Burby gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Davis tries to get to full guard but Burby has control of the leg.

Burby tries to pass the half guard into mount. Davis knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Davis flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Burby seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Davis does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Burby seems to be working for a kimura but Davis defends the submission attempt.
Davis is not content to let Burby control the position.
Davis tries to get to full guard but Burby has control of the leg.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Burby drives through with a takedown into guard.

Burby wants to pass the guard but Davis is keeping the position.
Davis keeping moving, preventing Burby from controlling successfully.
Burby stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Davis swivels though and keeps the full guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Davis is on top in guard.
Burby is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Davis wants to control but Burby is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Burby is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Burby shoots and misses

and Davis counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Davis wants to pass the guard but Burby is defending well.
Davis thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Burby's head.
Burby trying to hold on to Davis's head to control him but Davis postures up.
Davis passes to side control.

Davis is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Burby is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Davis wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Burby, who protects the arm well.
Burby is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Davis is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Davis winds up and cracks Burby with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Davis wants to control but Burby is keeping him busy.

Burby moves into full guard.
Davis wants to control from the top but Burby keeps moving.
Burby wants to sweep here but Davis controlling him for the moment.

Davis decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Burby, up you get!

Davis bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Davis scoring with punches and elbows.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Davis looks up at the clock and then as Burby takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Davis smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Burby is working to avoid the ground and pound but Davis connects with a decent elbow.


Burby is rocked!
Davis wants to control but Burby is keeping him busy.
Oh Burby is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Davis trying to control the action but Burby is working from the bottom.

Davis grinds an elbow into Burby's temple.

Burby tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Davis wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Davis works to advance to full mount. Burby defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Burby takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Davis moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Burby has worked his arm free - good work by Burby!

Davis is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Burby knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

A lull in the action here as Davis stalls from top position.

Burby is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Davis off and has taken his back!

Burby looking to break Davis's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Davis remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Burby will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Burby has the hooks in. Davis is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Davis is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Davis breaks Burby's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Burby might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Burby moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Burby working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Davis doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Burby is tightening it up a little... Davis has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Davis reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Davis taps out! nice BJJ there by Burby!
