PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tommy Redman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jericho Datu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Redman's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Crash by Decyfer Down. Datu has chosen Ridin Dirty as his entrance music. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Datu postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Redman is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Datu, into his guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Tommy Redman will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Datu fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Redman sprawls well initially but Datu persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Datu goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Redman has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Datu but great work by Redman.

Redman passes the guard and advances to mount!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jericho Datu showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Datu shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Datu throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Redman works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
Datu seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Redman does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Datu thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Redman to regain full guard.

Redman isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Datu stacks Redman on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Datu!

Datu working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Well Datu has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
