Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ulf Minutsak! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexander Dosdoevsky! The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Igor Prikhodko and Aleksandr Martynov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Minutsak tries to close the distance and clinch but Dosdoevsky swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Minutsak feints and as Dosdoevsky raises his hands in defense, Minutsak changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Minutsak tries to free his leg and advance position but Dosdoevsky is retaining full guard. Minutsak has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Dosdoevsky is proving hard to escape from. Dosdoevsky controlling the position. Minutsak stops Dosdoevsky from standing up. Minutsak throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Dosdoevsky looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Minutsak wants to pass the guard but Dosdoevsky is keeping the position. Dosdoevsky avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Minutsak postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Dosdoevsky escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Minutsak gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Dosdoevsky wants to stand up but Minutsak is controlling him.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Minutsak has Dosdoevsky up against the cage in a clinch.
Minutsak tries for a takedown. No joy.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Minutsak fails to pull guard.
Minutsak tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Dosdoevsky smiles and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ulf Minutsak. That's going to take a lot out of him. Minutsak doesn't manage to clinch there - Dosdoevsky circles away.
Minutsak stuffs the takedown attempt from Dosdoevsky. Dosdoevsky gets slowly back to his feet. Dosdoevsky closes the distance looking to clinch and Minutsak counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Minutsak. Minutsak throws and elbow that misses. Dosdoevsky uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Minutsak's guard. Nice move by Dosdoevsky! Dosdoevsky trying to control the position from guard on top but Minutsak is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Minutsak being controlled here, momentarily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Minutsak wants to sweep but no luck. Minutsak is breathing heavily. Dosdoevsky sitting in guard here, content to control. Dosdoevsky stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Minutsak swivels though and keeps the full guard. Dosdoevsky stands up and waves to Minutsak to follow him. Minutsak closes this distance looking for a takedown but Dosdoevsky circles away. Minutsak tries to clinch but Dosdoevsky moves away and Dosdoevsky counters by clinching up. Dosdoevsky lands a nice knee to the body.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dosdoevsky with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Minutsak wants a takedown but no success here.
Minutsak jumps guard.
Dosdoevsky stopping the sweep attempt from Minutsak. Minutsak controls Dosdoevsky momentarily but Dosdoevsky frees himself. Dosdoevsky passes easily into side control. Nice work. Minutsak struggling a bit here. Minutsak tries to bench press Dosdoevsky off him but Dosdoevsky keeps the position. Dosdoevsky working the head and body with strikes. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ulf Minutsak dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Minutsak lands a jab-cross combination.
Dosdoevsky is rocked!
It looks like Alexander Dosdoevsky has been cut. Minutsak closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Dosdoevsky is still in real trouble! Can Minutsak finish him? Minutsak moves into full mount! Minutsak lands a nice shot to the head. Minutsak landing strikes, looking to finish! Minutsak is in the full mount, landing strikes. Dosdoevsky is trying to escape the mount.
Minutsak scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Dosdoevsky?
Dosdoevsky is breathing heavily. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Minutsak lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Dosdoevsky in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Minutsak breaks from Dosdoevsky's wrist control and lands an elbow.
That's one minute gone in the round. Minutsak working away from the top, dropping strikes. Minutsak scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Dosdoevsky?
Minutsak working for a guillotine from mount but Dosdoevsky is in no mood to give up. Minutsak lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Dosdoevsky hang on? You get the feeling that Dosdoevsky really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Minutsak fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Minutsak lands a big elbow. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Minutsak scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Dosdoevsky?
Dosdoevsky is trying desperately to improve position. Dosdoevsky tries to lock up and control but Minutsak gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dosdoevsky taking shots to the head. Minutsak throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Minutsak throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage. Dosdoevsky tries to reverse the position but Minutsak maintains control. Dosdoevsky is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Dosdoevsky holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Minutsak tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Minutsak prevents Dosdoevsky from getting the reversal. Minutsak connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Minutsak is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Dosdoevsky can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Dosdoevsky holds on to Minutsak around his waist, trying desperately to prevent any attacks.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Minutsak landing strikes from the mount.
That has opened up Alexander Dosdoevsky's cut even more. Dosdoevsky is in a horrible position here. Minutsak smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
The cut above Alexander Dosdoevsky's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Alexander Dosdoevsky's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
