The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Newell throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Newell listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Newell scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
maxwell dodges the punch combination from Newell.

A jab lands there for Newell.
maxwell takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Newell scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Declan Newell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Newell uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before maxwell has time to react.

steven maxwell's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
Newell lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Newell stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at steven maxwell's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
