PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Samm Mah (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Inhoff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mah comes to the cage accompanied by Fuck You Lucy - Atmosphere. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Samm Mah!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jack Inhoff!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Inhoff blocks a jab.
Inhoff misses with a body shot.
Inhoff closes this distance looking for a takedown but Mah circles away.
Mah lands a jab.

Inhoff has Mah up against the cage in a clinch.

Mah works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Mah wants to control from the top but Inhoff keeps moving.
Inhoff working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Mah.
Inhoff is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Inhoff is pulling down on Mah's head. It's preventing any offense from Mah, at least for the moment.
Inhoff not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Inhoff manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Mah manages to get himself to full guard.
Inhoff slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Mah is not content to let Inhoff control the position.

Inhoff goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Mah rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Inhoff's guard! Nice work there by Mah!
Inhoff wants to sweep but no luck.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Inhoff keeping full guard, as Mah tries to pass.

Mah decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Mah closes the distance and clinches.
Mah tries for a takedown but Inhoff manages to get underhooks.
Mah misses with a short punch on the inside.
Mah working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
A short uppercut from Mah.
Mah pushes Inhoff back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Inhoff is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Mah gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Samm Mah has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Inhoff.

Mah lands with a right to the head.
Mah lands an uppercut.
Mah is leaning against Inhoff and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Inhoff looks gassed!

Mah has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Inhoff clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Can Inhoff hold on?! Mah is landing more strikes to his hapless foe.

I would not like to be Inhoff right now.
Mah lands a shot to the head.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Mah controlling the positon.
Inhoff tries to break free.

Mah biding his time, controlling Inhoff.
Mah is throwing shots to the body but Inhoff manages to wriggle free. Mah pounces on him again and ends up in Inhoff's guard.
Inhoff avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Inhoff wriggles free and stands up.
Inhoff throws a nice looking combination but Mah bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Mah drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Samm Mah dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Mah tries to clinch but Inhoff moves out of range.
Inhoff looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Inhoff.
Mah throws a hook but Inhoff blocks it.
The fighters circle momentarily. Mah darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Mah lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Inhoff at a distance.
Mah shoots and misses

and Inhoff counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Inhoff throws and elbow that misses. Mah uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Inhoff's guard. Nice move by Mah!
Inhoff is breathing heavily.
Mah cracks Inhoff with a solid left hand.
Samm Mah overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Inhoff looking to hit a scissor sweep but Mah is one step ahead there.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Mah accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Mah is standing up over Inhoff. Inhoff looks to escape but Mah dives into side control.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Mah lands a really nice looking cross but Inhoff seems unphased.

Mah has managed to clinch.
Mah is stalling here.

Mah gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Mah preventing the sweep.
Mah trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Inhoff can't keep his opponent in guard - Mah advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Inhoff tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Mah has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Mah can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Inhoff is looking to escape.
Mah lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Inhoff is in all sorts of trouble here.
Mah with a couple of short strikes.
Inhoff keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Mah lands a nice shot to the head.
Inhoff wants to get back to his feet.
Mah with the ground and pound from mount.
Mah tries to control but Inhoff wriggling away.
Mah looking to control and managing it successfully.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Mah lands a heavy elbow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Samm Mah dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!



Inhoff gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Mah to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Mah postures up in Inhoff's guard and throws a big left but Inhoff blocks it.
Mah wants to control from the top but Inhoff keeps moving.
Inhoff is trying to keep Mah in close.

Inhoff lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Mah!
Mah tries to hold on but Inhoff postures up.

Inhoff unloads with some shots from mount but Mah bucks and avoids them well.
Mah tries to lock up and control but Inhoff gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Inhoff misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Inhoff tries to control but Mah wriggling away.
Mah is bucking up trying to escape but Inhoff cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Mah bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Mah controls from within his opponent's guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Mah with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Mah slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Mah throws a big right hand that misses.
Inhoff keeping moving, preventing Mah from controlling successfully.
Samm Mah is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Mah pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Inhoff is keeping the position for now.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Inhoff is looking to stand up but Mah isn't so interested in that idea.

Jack Inhoff has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Inhoff working for a triangle but Mah defends it easily.
Mah looking to sit in guard and control but Inhoff gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Mah is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

And that's the end of the fight!
Samm Mah showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Mah has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
