Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ricky Steamboat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Igor Schiknsi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Schiknsi is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Po Russki. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ricky Steamboat! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Igor Schiknsi! The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Vladimir Khabensky and Aleksandr Martynov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Schiknsi has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Steamboat. A telegraphed right hand from Schiknsi misses the target. A nice inside leg kick there by Steamboat. That's going to slow Schiknsi down. Steamboat avoids the body shot from Schiknsi.
Steamboat throws a sloppy head kick and Schiknsi moves out of range easily. Steamboat misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
A head kick misses from Steamboat. Steamboat looks to land a combination but Schiknsi avoids it well. Schiknsi throws a combination that misses and Steamboat counters with a thumping low kick. Schiknsi lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Schiknsi throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Steamboat thumps Schiknsi with a low kick. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Steamboat throws a front kick that sends Schiknsi stumbling back into the cage. Schiknsi looks gassed! Schiknsi chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Steamboat can pounce on him.

Schiknsi lunges at Steamboat with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Steamboat's hand. Steamboat stuffs the takedown. Thud! ouch! good body kick from Steamboat - that will leave a mark!
Schiknsi tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Steamboat counters with a thumping low kick. Schiknsi sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs. Schiknsi takes one to the chin there. Steamboat throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Schiknsi on the side of the head. Schiknsi has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Steamboat. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Steamboat chopping away at his opponent's legs.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Steamboat throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Igor Schiknsi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Schiknsi swings and misses with a shot to the body and Steamboat makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Schiknsi really felt that one! A kick lands to the mid section there for Steamboat. Schiknsi has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Steamboat. Steamboat lands a high kick!

Steamboat lands a nice leg kick that just misses Schiknsi's sensitive parts. Left hook, right uppercut from Schiknsi. Schiknsi takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Schiknsi closes this distance looking for a takedown but Steamboat circles away. Ricky Steamboat has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Igor Schiknsi. Schiknsi throws a right and a left that Steamboat avoids nicely. Schiknsi jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Schiknsi fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Schiknsi closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Schiknsi is looking to take a break and control but Steamboat is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Steamboat is trying to buck Schiknsi off. Schiknsi stands up. Steamboat connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Steamboat showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Schiknsi.
Schiknsi will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Schiknsi closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Steamboat did well to prevent Schiknsi getting side control. Schiknsi is looking for submissions but instead, Steamboat has regained full guard.
Steamboat avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Schiknsi trying to control but Steamboat is working from the bottom. Schiknsi looking to sit in guard and control but Steamboat gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Schiknsi fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Steamboat avoids it really well and circles away. Steamboat avoids a punch combination nicely.
Nice takedown defense from Steamboat. No joy for Schiknsi on that attempt. Schiknsi has his takedown stuffed and Steamboat counters with a head kick. That will keep Schiknsi thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks! Ricky Steamboat has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Igor Schiknsi. A looping hook to the body misses from Schiknsi. Steamboat does a little dance to reset his feet. Steamboat lands a lovely overhand right. Schiknsi shoots in for a takedown but Steamboat shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Schiknsi on the wrong end of a kick to the body.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Steamboat throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Schiknsi shoots in but doesn't get the takedown letting Steamboat counter with a right hand. Steamboat pushes Schiknsi away with a front kick. Schiknsi pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Schiknsi misses with the combination.
A left lands for Steamboat. Steamboat plants his feet and lands a nice head kick! Schiknsi cracks Steamboat with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Schiknsi misses with a hook. Steamboat ducked under it nicely. Steamboat walks into a stiff left hand from Schiknsi. Schiknsi closes this distance looking for a takedown but Steamboat circles away.

Schiknsi tries for a takedown but Steamboat circles away easily and Steamboat counters with a big head kick but Schiknsi shrugs it off. Ricky Steamboat is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Schiknsi shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Steamboat defends it nicely. Schiknsi closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Steamboat to the mat! Steamboat manages to get full guard. Steamboat is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Schiknsi is controlling him. Steamboat keeping full guard, as Schiknsi tries to pass. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Schiknsi has gone for a leg lock! Steamboat slips out almost immediately though and dives into Schiknsi's guard. Schiknsi working a defensive guard but Steamboat manages to pass into side control anyway.

Ricky Steamboat dominated that second round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! And we move into the final round!
Schiknsi tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Steamboat swivels and escapes. Schiknsi fails to land the takedown. Schiknsi looks for a takedown but Steamboat sprawls well. Ricky Steamboat has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Igor Schiknsi. Steamboat delivers a nice body kick. Steamboat connects with a single shot there. Schiknsi shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Steamboat pinned against the cage. Steamboat gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. A punch combination from Schiknsi misses. Steamboat feints and then cracks Schiknsi's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Schiknsi down. Steamboat throws a sloppy head kick and Schiknsi moves out of range easily. Steamboat feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Schiknsi's calf.
That's one minute gone in the round. Schiknsi throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Steamboat was covering up waiting for the punch and Schiknsi finishes the takedown easily into guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Steamboat pulls Schiknsi in close to prevent any damage. Schiknsi passes easily into side control. Nice work. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Schiknsi throws a strike aimed at the side of Steamboat's head but Steamboat avoids it well. Schiknsi connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Steamboat some visible discomfort.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Steamboat is looking for a sweep. Schiknsi remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Steamboat is trying to control Schiknsi's posture but Schiknsi avoids it. Schiknsi taking a break here but Steamboat is having none of it and regains half guard. Schiknsi wants to work for an arm triangle but Steamboat is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Schiknsi works his foot free and advances to mount. Schiknsi moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Steamboat has worked his arm free - good work by Steamboat!
Schiknsi wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Steamboat, who protects the arm well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Steamboat holding on. Schiknsi working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Igor Schiknsi has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! An elbow from Schiknsi crashes against the mat.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Ricky Steamboat. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Steamboat, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
