Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Cotton Hill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ian Phillips (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

With a record of 9 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Cotton Hill!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ian Phillips!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Leandro Rodrigues and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Phillips throws a jab but it's blocked by Hill.
No joy there for Phillips, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Phillips lands an overhand right.
Hill tries to clinch there but Phillips circles away.
Hill moves out of range as Phillips strikes.

Phillips fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Hill sprawls well initially but Phillips persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Hill is trying to maintain the position but Phillips is very close to passing his half guard.
Phillips thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Hill's head.

Horrible takedown by Phillips or perhaps it was just good defense by Hill which made him look bad.

Phillips has hold of Hill's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Hill manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Hill has left one of his arms exposed and Phillips doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Hill screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
