The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Felipe Paraventi and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
rodrigo throws a quick inside leg kick.
rodrigo tries to clinch but Wellwood moves out of range.
A bone on bone clash there as Wellwood blocks the leg kick.
rodrigo is looking to clinch but Wellwood is avoiding it.
rodrigo misses with a body shot.
Wellwood swats away the attempt to clinch by rodrigo.
Wellwood takes a swing at rodrigo's ribcage but misses.
rodrigo fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
rodrigo walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Wellwood checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and rodrigo counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Wellwood's guard now.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Wellwood has his foot on rodrigo's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. rodrigo works his way back into a safe position though.

rodrigo throws a series of punches but Wellwood avoids them all with ease.
rodrigo fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
rodrigo tries to clinch up but Wellwood circles away and keeps his distance.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

rodrigo thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

rodrigo drops back looking for a leg! Wellwood is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Wellwood manages to kick rodrigo off! rodrigo jumps back into Wellwood's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wellwood is looking for a triangle but rodrigo pushes his legs off easily.

Wellwood has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but rodrigo can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Wellwood had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. rodrigo defends it easily.
Wellwood on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Wellwood tries to get out of the position.
rodrigo passes Wellwood's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Wellwood has hold of rodrigo's hands but rodrigo slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Wellwood is refusing to be controlled, as rodrigo sits in half guard.
rodrigo stops Wellwood from getting back to his feet.
Wellwood knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for rodrigo on the ground.
rodrigo in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Wellwood tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from rodrigo!
