PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Crazy Dog (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Angelo Durval (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dog comes to the cage accompanied by Fan of Marrizle. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Crazy Dog!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Angelo Durval!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Matheus Silva and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dog fails with a takedown attempt.
Dog keeps the fight on the outside.
Durval connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Durval misses with a straight right.
Durval just misses with a punch to the body.
Crazy Dog seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Durval misses with a body shot.
Dog fails to land with a series of punches.
Dog fails with the takedown.
Dog closes the distance and clinches up with Durval, looking for a takedown. Dog pushes Durval against the cage but Durval circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Crazy Dog. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Dog shoots in but no luck this time.
Dog defending well as Durval loads up on a big left hand.
Durval leaves Dog with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Dog shoots for a double leg takedown but Durval sprawls well. He's pushed Dog's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Durval misses with a wild body shot.
Durval swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Dog counters with a single leg into guard. Durval didn't expect that.
Dog postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Dog wants to control from the top but Durval keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Durval looking to control.
Dog preventing the sweep.
Durval seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Durval is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Dog wants to control from the top but Durval keeps moving.
Dog stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Durval swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and Dog counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Dog.

Durval is looking for a sweep.
Durval avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Dog.

Dog has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Durval dodges the ground and pound from Dog.

Dog is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Durval has escaped the position, nice work there.
Durval is trying to control Dog's posture but Dog avoids it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Dog shoots in looking for a takedown. Durval tries to sprawl out of it but Dog keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Durval manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Durval takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Durval leaves Dog with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Dog misses with a jab, cross combination.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Durval takes a swing at Dog's ribcage but misses.
Durval wants to clinch
and Dog counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Dog throws a sloppy body shot
and Durval counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Durval is looking to clinch.
Dog has his takedown stuffed
and Durval counters with a nice uppercut.

Durval clinches up with Dog and pushes him back against the cage.

Dog jumps guard.
Durval stopping the sweep attempt from Dog.
Dog is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Dog wants to sweep but no luck.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Crazy Dog dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Dog changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Durval looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Dog trying to control the action but Durval is working from the bottom.
Durval gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Durval is refusing to be controlled, as Dog sits in half guard.
Dog controlling the pace.
Durval is looking for a sweep. Dog is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Durval is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Dog content to control rather than advance.

Dog throwing shots but Durval is blocking nicely.
Durval is trying to control but can't.
Dog trying to control the action but Durval is working from the bottom.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Dog feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Durval can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Dog controls the pace.

Dog stands and throws Durval's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Durval manages to get back to half guard.
Durval is breathing heavily.
Dog wants to lay and pray for a moment but Durval keeps working.
Dog wants to free his trapped foot but Durval is holding on for dear life with his legs.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dog uses his free foot to push down on Durval's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Durval.
Dog tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Dog trying to control but Durval is having none of it.

Dog landing strikes from the mount.

Dog working for a guillotine from mount but Durval is in no mood to give up.
Durval tries to lock up and control but Dog gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Dog is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Durval to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Durval shrugs it off.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Durval tries to lock up and control but Dog gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Dog trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Dog controlling from mount.
Dog trying to control but Durval is having none of it.
Dog with the ground and pound from mount.
Dog can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Durval is looking to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Crazy Dog dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


A telegraphed takedown attempt from Dog is defended easily by Durval.

Dog fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Durval avoids it really well and circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Crazy Dog. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Durval lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Dog circles away quickly and effectively.
No luck for Dog with that takedown attempt.

and Dog decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Durval's guard.

Dog takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Dog is looking to take a break and control but Durval is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Dog thows a huge punch but Durval dodges it nicely.
Angelo Durval has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Crazy Dog showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Dog, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
