The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
st nkoi feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
st nkoi postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Sanchez has his hands on st nkoi's head, controlling the position.
st nkoi wants to control from the top but Sanchez keeps moving.
st nkoi throwing strikes from guard but Sanchez blocks nicely.
Sanchez can't keep his opponent in guard - st nkoi advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
st nkoi wants to pass the guard but Sanchez is defending well.
st nkoi trying to control the action but Sanchez is working from the bottom.

st nkoi looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Sanchez with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Sanchez is looking for a sweep. st nkoi is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

st nkoi closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Sanchez did well to prevent st nkoi getting side control.

Sanchez has hold of st nkoi's hands but st nkoi slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
st nkoi instigates a clinch.
st nkoi is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Sanchez pulls him back up using the underhooks.
st nkoi tightens his grip and picks Sanchez up, before dumping him to the ground. Sanchez manages to land in guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
