PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Pasha Dasari (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Keiji Hashimoto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dasari comes into the arena with Stinkfist blaring out of the sound system. Hashimoto has chosen Chopin's Funeral March in B flat minor as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Pasha Dasari!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Keiji Hashimoto!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Felipe Paraventi and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dasari tries to clinch there but Hashimoto circles away.
Dasari tries to clinch up.
Dasari tries to bum rush Hashimoto with a series of wild strikes but Hashimoto uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Dasari misses with a body shot.
Dasari throws a front kick that sends Hashimoto stumbling back into the cage.
Dasari lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Hashimoto ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Dasari moves away.
Hashimoto throws a shot from downtown. Dasari moves away and avoids it.
Dasari tries a head kick but it misses.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Dasari.

Hashimoto is looking to reverse the position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Good exchange - Hashimoto coming out on top.
Hashimoto thows a body shot but no joy.
Hashimoto lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Hashimoto is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Dasari.
Hashimoto walks into a straight right hand from Dasari.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Dasari.
Pasha Dasari seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Dasari cracks Hashimoto with an open hand slap.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Dasari lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Dasari throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Hashimoto gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Dasari to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Dasari connects with a couple of short punches.

Hashimoto bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Dasari's guard.

Hashimoto wants to control from the top but Dasari keeps moving.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Hashimoto takes a little break here. Dasari wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Hashimoto wants to lay and pray for a moment but Dasari keeps working.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Dasari on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Dasari looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Hashimoto takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Hashimoto keeps the fight on the outside.
Hashimoto lands a really nice looking cross but Dasari seems unphased.
Dasari tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hashimoto paws at him with a jab and circles away.

A solid leg kick lands there for Hashimoto.
Dasari tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hashimoto paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Hashimoto throws a strike but Dasari rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Hashimoto is looking for a triangle but Dasari pushes his legs off easily.

Dasari postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Hashimoto is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Dasari is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Dasari wants to control but Hashimoto is having none of it.
Hashimoto takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Dasari is squirming around, avoiding Hashimoto's attempts to control the action.
Hashimoto tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Keiji Hashimoto showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!



Dasari moves into the clinch.
Hashimoto tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Dasari's elbow.
Hashimoto misses with some punches.
Dasari lands a knee to the head.

Hashimoto stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Hashimoto is on top in guard.

Hashimoto moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Dasari has worked his arm free - good work by Dasari!

Hashimoto takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Dasari tries to bench press Hashimoto off him but Hashimoto keeps the position.
Dasari is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Keiji Hashimoto has got the better of the ground game so far.

Hashimoto is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Dasari doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Hashimoto.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Hashimoto trying to mount his opponent but Dasari defends it.
Hashimoto is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Dasari reverses the position - he's now on top in Hashimoto's guard.
Dasari scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

Dasari thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Hashimoto trying to keep a closed guard but Dasari is proving a slippery customer.
Dasari stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hashimoto swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Hashimoto lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Dasari!
Dasari tries to lock up and control but Hashimoto gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Hashimoto can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Dasari is looking to escape.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Hashimoto content just to control the position here.

Hashimoto working for a guillotine from mount but Dasari is in no mood to give up.
Dasari has worked his way to half guard, taking advantage of Hashimoto's lack of action.
Dasari is staying active underneath Hashimoto, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Pasha Dasari.
I think Dasari has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
