Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ron Paul (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Juan Verelea (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ron Paul!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Juan Verelea!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Robert Twigg and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Verelea walks into a stiff left hand from Paul.
Verelea looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Paul shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Verelea defends it nicely.

Verelea looks to land a body kick but Paul moved away.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Paul takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Verelea tries a head kick but it misses.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Paul tries to score a power double leg takedown but Verelea sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Paul somewhat.
Paul takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

Verelea is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Paul is in all sorts of trouble here.
BOOM! Verelea connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Good leg kick by Verelea there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Paul misses with a takedown attempt - Verelea sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Verelea throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Paul.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Juan Verelea will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Paul throws a hook but Verelea avoids it easily.
Ron Paul is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Paul lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Verelea tries to close the distance and clinch but Paul swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Verelea is pressed up against the cage. Paul has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Verelea down to the mat. Verelea avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Paul shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Verelea wants to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Paul looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Paul wants to lay and pray for a moment but Verelea keeps working.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Paul moves away from the strike by Verelea.

Ron Paul has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Paul looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Verelea with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Paul is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ron Paul showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Verelea has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
