Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Nikolay Nechvidov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Lykki Core! The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Konstantin Menshow and Aleksei Zolotukhin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Core throws a series of punches but Nechvidov avoids them all with ease. Core pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Nechvidov gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Core fails with the takedown. Nechvidov throws a big shot that misses. Core throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Core misses with a two punch combination.
Nechvidov lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
It looks like Lykki Core has been cut. Core takes a kick to the side of the head. Lykki Core seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Nechvidov uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Core. Core shoots in and drives through. Nechvidov sprawls well. Nechvidov moves into the clinch successfully.

Core is trying to break the clinch but Nechvidov is controlling him. Core looks gassed! A left hand lands to the body for Nechvidov.
Core wants to get back to striking at distance but Nechvidov won't allow it.

Core shoots in but Nechvidov avoids the takedown attempt easily. Nikolay Nechvidov has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lykki Core. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Nechvidov closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Core to the mat! Core manages to get full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nechvidov sitting in guard here, content to control. Nechvidov stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Core swivels though and keeps the full guard. Core can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Nechvidov controls the pace. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Nechvidov accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Nechvidov would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Nechvidov is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Nechvidov landing some decent shots from guard. Core looking to control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nechvidov is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Nechvidov tries to free his leg and advance position but Core is retaining full guard. Nechvidov slips nicely into half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Nechvidov slips a nice elbow through Core's hands, connecting with Core's forehead. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Nechvidov seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Core tries to get to full guard but Nechvidov has control of the leg. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Nikolay Nechvidov dominated that round. The cut man is working on Lykki Core's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Nechvidov drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Nechvidov moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. Nechvidov tries to move to full mount but Core actually manages to regain half guard. Nechvidov looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nechvidov moves into full mount! Core won't be happy about that! Nechvidov avoids the attempt from Core to control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Nechvidov goes for an armbar but Core turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Core. Core drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Nechvidov dives on top into guard. Nechvidovis looking to pass into half guard but Core pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Core is in guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nechvidov utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Nechvidov is trying to keep Core in close.
Core wants to stand but Nechvidov is controlling his posture from full guard. Nechvidov is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Core decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Nechvidov, up you get! Core throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Nechvidov scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Nechvidov controlling the action here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Nechvidov trying to control from half guard but Core is working away. Nechvidov looks to score some points with some ground and pound. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Nikolay Nechvidov dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Lykki Core's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!
Nechvidov throws a head kick that misses. Nechvidov slips a jab and a cross from Core.

Nechvidov uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Core. Nechvidov stuffs the takedown attempt from Core. Core gets slowly back to his feet. Core takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Nechvidov closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Core did well to prevent Nechvidov getting side control. Nechvidov controlling the pace. Core is looking to escape. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nechvidov with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Core wants to control but Nechvidov is keeping busy and won't allow it. Core wants to get back to his feet. Nechvidov tries to pass to full mount but Core defends it. Core is trying to stand.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Core shoots and misses and Nechvidov counters with a nice double leg into side control. Core won't be happy with that. Nechvidov wants to lay and pray for a moment but Core keeps working. Nechvidov stands up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Core tries to clinch but Nechvidov is having none of it. Nechvidov drives through and clinches with Core against the cage.
Core drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Nechvidov gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Nechvidov pulls guard. Core slips nicely into half guard. Core is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Nechvidov sees it coming and defends easily. Nechvidov trying to control from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Nechvidov avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Core. Nechvidov tries to get to full guard but Core has control of the leg. Core is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Nechvidov defends it well. Lykki Core has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Core not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Core is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Nechvidov has managed to free his arm - good work. Nechvidov wants to get back to full guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Nikolay Nechvidov showed his dominance in that final round. Well Nechvidov has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
