Wallace comes into the arena with Gravel Pit by Wu-Tang Clan blaring out of the sound system. Xavier Wallace could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Sidney Wonder's chin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wonder shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Wonder wants to control from the top but Wallace keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Wonder is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Wallace is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Wallace has escaped and now he's on top!
Wonder wants to stand and escape but Wallace is having none of it.
Wallace wanted to stand there but Wonder had control of the position.

Wonder is looking for a triangle but Wallace pushes his legs off easily.
Wonder keeping moving, preventing Wallace from controlling successfully.

Wallace stands up and waves to Wonder to follow him.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Wallace scores with the left hand. Wonder knows he should have avoided that one.
Wallace misses with a wild body shot.

Wonder feints and as Wallace raises his hands in defense, Wonder changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Wonder drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Wonder jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Wonder postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Wallace is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Wonder, into his guard.
Wonder looks gassed!

Wallace wanted to stand there but Wonder had control of the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Wallace is looking to advance position but Wonder has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Wallace is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Wonder has hold of Wallace's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Wallace manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Wallace wants to get back to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Wallace is trying to escape the mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sidney Wonder dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Wallace lands an overhand right.
Wallace goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Wallace lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Wallace fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Wallace throws a right hand that Wonder ducks under and follows up with a left that Wonder also avoids with ease.
Wallace misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Wonder shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Wallace throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Wonder takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Wonder takes a jab right on the kisser.
Wallace lands a nice hook to Wonder's body. Wonder takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Wonder closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Wonder lands in his opponent's guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Wonder looking to hit a scissor sweep but Wallace is one step ahead there.
Wonder is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Wallace is looking to stand up but Wonder won't let him.
Wallace has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Wallace trying to control but Wonder is working from the bottom.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Wonder fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Wallace throws a right and a left that both miss.
Wonder walks into a straight right hand from Wallace.

Wonder darts in and clinches Wallace up against the cage.
Wonder tries for a takedown but Wallace manages to get underhooks.
Xavier Wallace has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sidney Wonder.
Wallace has had enough of the clinch but Wonder keeps him there for the moment.

Wonder has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Wallace regains guard immediately.
Wonder wants to pass the guard but Wallace is keeping the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Wallace is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Wonder defends well.
Wonder slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Wonder is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Wallace is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Wallace is looking for a sweep.
Wallace struggling a bit here.

Wonder has hold of Wallace's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Wallace seems comfortable defending it but Wonder has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Wallace is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Wallace is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Wonder couldn't care less - he's delighted!
