Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Selly Sel! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joshua Thomas! The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Winston Howard and Donatello Bradman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Thomas takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Joshua Thomas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Thomas bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Thomas circles away from the clinch attempt.
Thomas lands a really nice looking cross but Sel seems unphased.
Thomas rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Sel moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Sel takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Nice uppercut there from Thomas. Nice defenses there by Sel. Sel tries a low kick but Thomas avoids it. Sel misses with a body kick. Sel lands with a nice body punch. Thomas throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
That's one minute gone in the round. Thomas scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Thomas throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Thomas throws a jab when Sel was well out of range. Sel catches Thomas with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! A telegraphed takedown attempt from Sel is defended easily by Thomas. Thomas throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Sel sees it coming and avoids it easily. Sel closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Thomas sneaks back into half guard. Thomas wants to control but Sel is keeping busy and won't allow it. Thomas pushes Sel off looking to stand but Sel dives back in and keeps control.
Thomas is looking for a sweep. Sel is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Thomas moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Sel wants to pass the guard but Thomas is keeping the position. Thomas trying to control the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Thomas keeping moving, preventing Sel from controlling successfully. Sel advances position into side control! Sel working away. Sel just content to control the position. Thomas tries to buck Sel off but Sel is having none of it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Sel in side control, just content to control the action for now. Thomas is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Sel asserts his dominance and retains side control. Sel is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Sel has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Selly Sel dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sel uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Thomas. Thomas lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Thomas looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Thomas might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Sel closes this distance looking for a takedown but Thomas circles away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Selly Sel. That's going to take a lot out of him. Thomas is trying to defend but Sel finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Sel seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Thomas does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Thomas is trying to control but can't.

Thomas swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Sel will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
