Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Nick Gross!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Victor Karmin!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Shigeki Fujiwara and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gross fails in his attempt to clinch.
Gross fails with the takedown.
Gross misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Gross tries for a takedown but Karmin sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Gross dodges the punch combination from Karmin.
Gross clinches with his opponent.
Karmin lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Still in the clinch, Karmin scores with a nice short uppercut.
Gross wants to get back to striking at distance but Karmin won't allow it.
Karmin tries for a takedown. No joy.

Gross misses with a punch on the inside.
Karmin wants a takedown.
Gross breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Gross with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Gross shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Karmin as he jumps to the side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nick Gross. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Gross is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Gross throws a head kick that misses.
Karmin clinches up against the cage.

Gross breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Karmin circles away from the clinch attempt
and Karmin counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Karmin.
Karmin escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Karmin fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Gross, pushing him back against the cage.
Gross breaks from the clinch.
Gross darts in trying to clinch
so Karmin counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Karmin postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Karmin passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Gross is pushing Karmin's head away, looking to escape. Karmin manages to hold on to the position though.
Gross is breathing heavily.
Karmin works to advance to full mount. Gross defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Gross is trying desperately to improve position.
Karmin controlling his opponent.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Gross defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Karmin.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Karmin dominating with strikes here.
Karmin trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Gross is looking to improve his position but Karmin isn't that keen on the idea.
Karmin postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Gross looks a forlorn figure.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Gross working to try and regain half guard.
Karmin jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Gross manages to avoid the submission attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Karmin thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Gross is trying to control Karmin's posture but Karmin avoids it.
Karmin working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Karmin tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Karmin has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Karmin lands a decent elbow from side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Karmin tries for a kimura but Gross is defending well.
Karmin works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Karmin is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Gross is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Karmin is looking to take a break and control but Gross is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Karmin is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Gross knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Karmin advances to mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Victor Karmin dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Gross shoots in looking for a takedown. Karmin tries to sprawl out of it but Gross keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Karmin manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Gross looks to clinch
and Karmin counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Victor Karmin has got the better of the ground game so far.
Karmin gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Gross tries to clinch
and Karmin counters with a low kick, right behind Gross 's knee.
Gross darts in trying to clinch
and Karmin moves into the clinch.
Karmin goes for a takedown attempt but Gross pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Karmin displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Gross is rocked!
Karmin lands a hook that stumbles Gross back into the cage. Karmin follows up with a straight and another hook that land right on the button, dropping Gross to the canvas! Karmin pounces and lands several unanswered shots - Gross has had enough and taps out! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:45 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Victor Karmin!
