The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Van Der Sar scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Van Der Sar lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Muhammed circles away quickly and effectively.

Edwin Van Der Sar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Muhammed tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Van Der Sar tries to keep at a distance but Muhammed has taken the fight into the clinch.

The crowd cheers as Van Der Sar lands an impressive looking overhand right. Muhammed doesn't seem phased though.

Muhammed shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Van Der Sar sprawls well. Van Der Sar wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Muhammed gets slowly back to his feet.

Van Der Sar lands with an uppercut that bounces Muhammed off the cage and back into rage.

Muhammed misses with a head shot. Van Der Sar uses the momentum to regain guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Muhammed in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Muhammed with a flurry of punches that miss.
Muhammed stands up and waves to Van Der Sar to follow him.
Muhammed closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Van Der Sar is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Muhammed misses with the ground and pound.
The ground and pound from Muhammed seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Muhammed in side control, throwing shots but Van Der Sar defends.
Muhammed throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Van Der Sar works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
Van Der Sar is trying to stand.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Muhammed looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Muhammed throws a strike but Van Der Sar avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

Muhammed throws and elbow that misses. Van Der Sar uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Muhammed's guard. Nice move by Van Der Sar!
Muhammed lands some strikes from the bottom.

Muhammed striking off his back but it's not causing Van Der Sar any problems.
Van Der Sar would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Muhammed doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Muhammed throws a couple of heel strikes.
Van Der Sar wants to get up but he can't break Muhammed's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Muhammed throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Muhammed striking off his back but it's not causing Van Der Sar any problems.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Left hook, right uppercut from Van Der Sar.
Muhammed tries to close the distance and clinch up but Van Der Sar swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Van Der Sar wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Muhammed shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Van Der Sar defends it nicely.
Van Der Sar circles away from the clinch attempt.

Van Der Sar stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Van Der Sar throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Van Der Sar rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Muhammed moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
A right-left combo lands from Van Der Sar.
Muhammed is rocked!
Van Der Sar throws an uppercut from hell that sends Muhammed clean off his feet! He's out cold! Van Der Sar stands back and admires his work as he thinks about that KO of the night award that is surely being wrapped up for him back stage.
