PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Darrell Revis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and DeShawn Harrington (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Darrell Revis!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, DeShawn Harrington!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Chris Edwards and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Revis misses with a wild body shot.
Revis misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Harrington.
Harrington scores with a jab to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Revis misses with a telegraphed body shot

and Harrington counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Harrington controlling the pace.
Harrington wants to control but Revis is keeping him busy.
Revis knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Harrington on the ground.
Harrington throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Harrington seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Revis does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Harrington is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Harrington wants to pass to mount but Revis is defending the position.
Harrington is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Harrington is looking for a kimura but Revis is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Harrington to get the leverage.
Harrington has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Harrington is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Revis sees it coming and defends easily.

Harrington is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Revis doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Harrington.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Darrell Revis is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

and Harrington counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Harrington lands strikes from half guard.
Harrington thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Revis's head.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

and Harrington counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Revis is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Harrington is controlling him.

Revis has hold of Harrington's hands but Harrington slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Harrington wants to free his trapped foot but Revis is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Harrington slips a nice elbow through Revis's hands, connecting with Revis's forehead.
Harrington sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Revis defending well though.

Revis manages to escape and get back to his feet!

Revis ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Harrington shoots in but no luck this time.
Harrington fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Revis misses the shot to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

DeShawn Harrington showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Harrington stops Revis from getting back to his feet.

Harrington seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Revis is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
