Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Angel Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nick Earls (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Davis comes to the cage accompanied by Down under by men at work. Earls has chosen Tommy Gun as his entrance music. Angel Davis has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Angel Davis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nick Earls!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Summer Carpenter and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davis avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Davis takes the fight into the clinch.
Davis can't get the takedown.
Earls stalling in the clinch but Davis improves position.
Davis lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Earls or not.
Earls looking to slow down the pace here.
Earls should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Davis gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Davis trying to pass the guard but Earls defending well.
Earls tries to roll over but Davis keeps him under control.
Earls has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Davis is working away from the top position though.
Davis wants to control but Earls is keeping him busy.
Earls won't allow Davis to pass to mount.
Earls moves into full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Davis wanted to stand there but Earls had control of the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Good standup being displayed there by Davis as he connects with a hook.
Davis clinches but Earls breaks the clinch

and Earls counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Davis's guard now.
Earls passes Davis's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Earls trying to mount his opponent but Davis defends it.

Earls is looking for a kimura but Davis is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Earls to get the leverage.
Earls passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Davis!
Earls can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Davis is looking to escape.
Davis can't escape the position.
Davis is breathing heavily.

Davis defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Earls.

Davis somehow manages to escape the mount and get back to his feet!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Earls clinches but Davis breaks the clinch
and Davis counters with a slapping leg kick.
Earls with a lazy takedown attempt

and Davis counters with a shoot takedown. Earls fights it but they end up in guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Davis works over Earls with some ground and pound from guard.
Davis preventing the sweep.
Davis wants to get up but he can't break Earls's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Earls had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Davis is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Earls Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Davis's back instead.

Earls has his arm under Davis's chin here. Game over son! Earls squeezes tightly and Davis is forced to tap out!
