Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Phelan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Haloti Ngata (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Mike Phelan has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Mike Phelan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Haloti Ngata! The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Chris Edwards and Andrew Berry.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Phelan wants to clinch up but Ngata keeps it at a distance. Phelan keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
The fight stays on the outside here - Phelan looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Ngata swats away the attempt to clinch by Phelan. Phelan throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Phelan's corner calls for a 1-2. Phelan obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Ngata shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Phelan as he jumps to the side. Phelan misses with a wild body shot. Phelan with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Ngata decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Phelan on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Phelan tries to get out of the position. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Phelan on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Ngata throws a strike but Phelan avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Ngata is working Phelan over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ngata throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Phelan works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Ngata stops Phelan from standing up. Ngata missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Ngata throws and elbow that misses. Phelan uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Ngata's guard. Nice move by Phelan! Phelan stopping the sweep attempt from Ngata. Ngata is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Ngata is striking off his back. Phelan thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard. Ngata tries to get to full guard but Phelan has control of the leg.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Ngata misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Phelan tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Ngata paws at him with a jab and circles away. Phelan lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
It looks like Haloti Ngata has been cut. Phelan could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Phelan tries to close the distance and clinch but Ngata swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Phelan moves in looking to clinch but Ngata pushes him off. Phelan lands a high kick!
Ngata looks gassed! Phelan slaps away a takedown attempt from Ngata, before circling back to the center of the mat. Mike Phelan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Haloti Ngata. Phelan lands a head kick. Ngata smiles back at him and beckons him forward. Phelan tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Ngata paws at him with a jab and circles away. Phelan fails in his attempt to clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fight stays on the outside here - Phelan looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Phelan thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Ngata if he has to take too many more of those.
Phelan tries to clinch up but Ngata circles away and keeps his distance. Phelan lands a head kick. Ngata smiles back at him and beckons him forward. Phelan moves in looking to clinch but Ngata pushes him off. Ngata tries for a takedown but Phelan sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Phelan scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Phelan lands with a big left! Ngata is wobbled badly! Phelan comes in with a flurry of punches and drops Ngata to the floor. The ref jumps in to save him from unneccessary punishment.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Mike Phelan!
