Backstrom's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Let the bodies hit the floor. David Nail has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, James Ackerman and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Backstrom wants to clinch up but Nail keeps it at a distance.
Nail changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Backstrom tries to avoid it but Nail manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Backstrom to the ground. Backstrom escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Nail throws a head kick that misses.
Nail is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Backstrom's half guard.
Backstrom is defending against the submission attempts here by Nail.
Backstrom tries to roll over but Nail keeps him under control.

Nail drops back, looking for a kneebar! Backstrom looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Backstrom looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Backstrom!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Backstrom is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Nail knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Backstrom is trying to get an arm triangle but Nail is defending well.
Nail is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Backstrom looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Nail with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Nail wants to control but Backstrom is keeping busy.

Nail has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Backstrom is working away from the top position though.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Nail tries to bum rush Backstrom with a series of wild strikes but Backstrom uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Nail bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Backstrom is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Nail off and has taken his back!
Backstrom misses with a punch to the head.

Backstrom is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Nail knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Nail for a finish.
