Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Zac Davis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Michel Pereira!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Bruno Hogan and Hugh Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davis drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Pereira regains half guard there - taking advantage of Davis's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pereira is looking to improve his position.
Pereira is trying to stand up here but Davis is controlling him well.
Pereira is not content to let Davis control the position.
Pereira is looking to escape.
Davis controlling the pace.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Davis wants to take a breather but Pereira is having none of it.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Davis misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Davis tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Pereira paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Davis throws a right hand that Pereira ducks under and follows up with a left that Pereira also avoids with ease.
Pereira rushes Davis and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Davis breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Davis lands with a straight right. Pereira didn't see that one coming.
A combination from Pereira does no damage.
Pereira looks to land a combination. Davis sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
It looks like Zac Davis has been cut.
Michel Pereira seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pereira throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Pereira dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Davis is breathing heavily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Davis shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Pereira as he jumps to the side.
A nice combination there by Pereira.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
A left lands for Pereira.
Pereira looks to land a body kick but Davis moved away.
Pereira closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops Davis! Pereira dives in looking to finish! Davis is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Michel Pereira!
