Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tommy McDonald (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Halfway Crook (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Crook's choice of entrance music: Shook Ones pt II. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Halfway Crook! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Stewart Dunkirk and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McDonald swings for the body but Crook moves out of range.
McDonald bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Crook displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from McDonald. Nice cross by Crook. Crook swings for the body but McDonald moves out of range.

Crook scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Halfway Crook seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Crook changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Crook pushing out the jab but it's not landing. McDonald defending well as Crook loads up on a big left hand. Crook throws a sloppy body shot
and McDonald cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. McDonald ducks under a wild hook from Crook. Crook misses with a hook. McDonald ducked under it nicely. Crook misses with an attempted mid kick.

That's one minute gone in the round. Crook pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. McDonald is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Crook. McDonald shoots for a takedown but Crook saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Crook lands the left hand. McDonald misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
McDonald looks to score with a jab to the body but Crook is just out of range. Crook throws a jab when McDonald was well out of range. McDonald looks for a takedown but Crook sprawls well. The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Crook cracks McDonald with a good jab. McDonald tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Crook was well out of range. Poor timing from McDonald. Crook rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but McDonald moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Halfway Crook is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. McDonald avoids a punch combination nicely.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. McDonald takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. McDonald throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Crook ducks down and throws a hook to the body but McDonald moves away. McDonald just misses with a punch to the body.
A looping hook to the body misses from McDonald. Crook does a little dance to reset his feet. Crook lands a really nice looking cross but McDonald seems unphased.
McDonald is looking to wear down Crook with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. McDonald throws a jab when Crook was well out of range. Crook uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by McDonald.

McDonald dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Crook takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Crook throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Halfway Crook dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

McDonald fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Crook on the side of the head. McDonald takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Crook throws a hook to the side of McDonald's head but McDonald sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. A leg kick checked by McDonald. Crook misses with a hook. McDonald ducked under it nicely. McDonald lands with an uppercut that bounces Crook off the cage and back into rage. McDonald connects with a body shot. A telegraphed takedown attempt from McDonald is defended easily by Crook. Crook works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. McDonald staying out of range there. Crook staying out of range there. Halfway Crook seems to be getting the better of the standup. McDonald takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. McDonald avoids a punch combination nicely.

McDonald is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. Crook missing with a left hand there. McDonald was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. and McDonald counters with a nice double leg into side control. Crook won't be happy with that. McDonald is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Crook is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. McDonald tries for a kimura but Crook is defending well. McDonald wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Crook, who protects the arm well. McDonald is trying to get an arm triangle but Crook is defending well.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. McDonald tries for a kimura but Crook is defending well. McDonald looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. McDonald will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
That's one minute gone in the round. McDonald jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Crook is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Crook and McDonald has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
