Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, John Ryoko! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ernesto Hoost! The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Albert Achterberg and Saam Ante.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hoost shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Ryoko's guard. Hoost tries to free his leg and advance position but Ryoko is retaining full guard. Ryoko utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Ryoko controlling Hoost's posture. Ryoko is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Ryoko keeping moving, preventing Hoost from controlling successfully. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hoost slips nicely into half guard. Hoost prevents Ryoko from improving his position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hoost is actively looking for submissions here but good counter grappling here from Ryoko as he works his way to full guard.

Ryoko could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Ryoko wants to control but Hoost is keeping busy.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Hoost gets the takedown into side control. Ryoko manages to get back to half guard. Ryoko is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Hoost pulls his head out easily. Ryoko trying to control here.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Ryoko is looking for a sweep. Hoost is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ernesto Hoost dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Ryoko closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Hoost did well to prevent Ryoko getting side control. Hoost trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!

Ryoko has hold of Hoost's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Hoost manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Hoost's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. Hoost can't escape the position.
Ryoko looking to finish Hoost with some ground and pound. This is bad for Hoost! Hoost really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ryoko. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Hoost is desperately trying to improve his position but Ryoko has a good base and remains in mount. Ryoko working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Hoost is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Ryoko prevents Hoost from getting the reversal. Ryoko looking for a guillotine from mount but Hoost is having none of it. Ryoko stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hoost misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Ryoko gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Hoost counters with a takedown into side control. Hoost is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Ryoko is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Hoost creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Ryoko sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
