Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 10 - 0, fighting out of London, Mick Dolan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Big Baby! The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, James Ackerman and William Gold.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A head kick from Baby lands but Dolan takes it in his stride. Baby fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Dolan throws a leg kick which misses Baby's front leg but catches the back leg as Baby tries to avoid it. Baby tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Dolan paws at him with a jab and circles away. Dolan throws a lazy right hand but Baby sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Baby ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. A big right from Dolan misses. Baby rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Dolan moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Baby throws a nice looking combination but Dolan bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Dolan changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Baby looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Dolan is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Baby has escaped the position, nice work there. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Baby taking a bit of punishment here - Dolan scoring with strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dolan is working Baby over with some ground and pound from side control. Dolan wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Baby, who protects the arm well. Baby manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Dolan is trying to work for a kimura but Baby is defending well.
Dolan throwing shots but Baby is blocking nicely. Dolan tries to pass to full mount but Baby defends it. Baby is staying active underneath Dolan, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Baby is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Dolan pulls his head out easily. Dolan is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Dolan looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Baby is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Dolan is working for a kimura but Baby is defending it quite comfortably.
Dolan is breathing heavily. Baby actively working from the bottom here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Baby is trying to control but Dolan passes into side control!
Dolan cracks Baby with an elbow. That is naaassty. Baby tries to improve position but can't. Dolan thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Baby is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Dolan asserts his dominance and retains side control. Dolan looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Baby wants to control but Dolan postures up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Baby takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Dolan wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Baby, who protects the arm well. Baby taking a bit of punishment here - Dolan scoring with strikes. Dolan is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Baby has escaped the position, nice work there. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Dolan trying to control the position but Baby is working away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mick Dolan dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Baby keeps the fight on the outside. Dolan tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Dolan avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Baby swinging wildly here.
Baby swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Mick Dolan is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Dolan tries to clinch up and Baby counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Baby throws a head kick that misses. Baby lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Baby. No luck with that takedown attempt from Dolan. Dolan doesn't manage to clinch there - Baby circles away.
Dolan lands with an overhand left.
It looks like Big Baby has been cut. Dolan shoots and misses and Baby counters with a nice low kick that buckles Dolan's knee momentarily. Baby lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dolan connects with a single shot there. Dolan dives in and grabs Baby's left leg, looking for a takedown. Baby pushes down on Dolan's head and hops out. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mick Dolan. That's going to take a lot out of him. Dolan wants to clinch up but Baby keeps it at a distance. Baby fails with an attempt to clinch.
Horrible takedown by Dolan or perhaps it was just good defense by Baby which made him look bad. No joy there for Baby, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Baby closes the distance and clinches. Dolan lands a left hand that snaps the head of Baby backwards.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Baby tries to pull guard but Dolan holds him up against the cage and eventually Baby drops back down to his feet.
A nice left hand lands by Dolan.
Baby tries for a takedown but Dolan manages to get underhooks.
Baby is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Baby breaks the clinch.
Baby misses with a few strikes there.
Dolan ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Baby moves away. Baby throws a leg kick letting Dolan counter with a right hand. Dolan wants to clinch up but Baby keeps it at a distance. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Dolan is defended easily by Baby. Big Baby is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Baby pulls out of a head kick attempt.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dolan misses with an uppercut. Baby saw that one coming. Baby throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
letting Dolan counter with a right hand. Baby tries to clinch but fails miserably and Dolan makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Baby is breathing heavily. Dolan shoots in but no luck this time. Dolan is looking to clinch but Baby is avoiding it.
Dolan takes a head kick and keeps coming.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Dolan tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Baby paws at him with a jab and circles away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mick Dolan dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Big Baby's cut. That's time! Dolan's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!
Dolan scores with a punch to the head. Baby tries to clinch and Dolan counters by clinching up. Baby is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Dolan pulls him back up using the underhooks. Baby takes a shot to the head. Dolan lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. Dolan throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Babys head.
Baby is rocked! Dolan has Baby pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Baby manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Dolan lands on the inside with an uppercut. Baby drops down looking for an ankle pick but Dolan pulls his leg out and moves away.
Baby throws a sloppy head kick and Dolan moves out of range easily. Baby tries to clinch there but Dolan circles away.
Baby takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Dolan.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dolan moves into the clinch successfully.
Baby tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Dolan smiles and moves away.
Mick Dolan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Big Baby. Baby is looking to clinch but Dolan is avoiding it.
Baby keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Dolan. Baby tries to clinch but Dolan moves away and Dolan holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Dolan lands an uppercut.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Baby looking to stall.
Dolan pulls guard successfully.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Baby accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Baby has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Dolan is proving hard to escape from. Dolan has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Baby can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Baby is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Dolan has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Baby is looking to defend but Dolan has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Baby! Dolan pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Baby taps out and this one is all over!
