Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Igor Santana (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ricky Anderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Santana's entrance music is I Gotta Feeling . A fine choice. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ricky Anderson! The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Taro Takaoka and Hirohito Nitta.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Good shot there by Anderson. Anderson lands with a shot to the body. Anderson tries a head kick but it misses.

Ricky Anderson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Anderson pivots, looking for a leg kick but Santana is out of range and Anderson settles back down. Anderson lands with a shot to the body. Santana throws a body kick that misses. Anderson lands with a shot to the body. Anderson getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Santana fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Anderson avoids it really well and circles away. Anderson scores with a shot to the body.

Santana feints and as Anderson raises his hands in defense, Santana changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Santana is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Santana postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Anderson is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Santana, into his guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Santana tries to land a sweep but no joy. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Anderson with a nice head shot there. Santana avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Anderson thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Santana is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Santana is breathing heavily. Anderson tries to get to full guard but Santana has control of the leg. Santana is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Anderson sees it coming and defends easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Anderson desperately trying to maintain half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Anderson is trying to maintain the position but Santana is very close to passing his half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Anderson wants to get back to full guard. Santana is working for a submission of some sort.
Santana is working for a kimura but Anderson is defending it quite comfortably.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Anderson cracks Santana with a good jab. Anderson lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Anderson shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Anderson showed some decent athleticism there. Santana is looking to improve his position.

Santana is pressing down on Anderson's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Anderson with a flurry of punches that miss. Anderson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Santana. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Anderson lands a couple of decent looking shots. Anderson scoring with punches to the head and body. Anderson lands a couple of digs. Anderson tries to stand but Santana is controlling from the bottom.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Santana fails with a takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Igor Santana. That's going to take a lot out of him. Anderson scores with a body shot.
Anderson has his takedown stuffed so Santana counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Santana drops back looking for a leg! Anderson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Anderson manages to kick Santana off! Santana jumps back into Anderson's guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Igor Santana dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Santana closes this distance looking for a takedown but Anderson circles away. Santana throws a push kick but Anderson slaps the foot to one side. Anderson tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Anderson tries to close the distance and clinch up but Santana swats him away and circles back towards the center. Santana uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Anderson.
Anderson is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Santana rather than just go for the knockout. Anderson darts in trying to clinch letting Santana counter with a right hand. Anderson throws a lazy head kick enabling Santana to counter with a crisp jab. Anderson dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Anderson moves out of range of the strikes. Santana fails to land the takedown. Santana takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

Santana looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that. Anderson is looking to control Santana's arms but Santana gets an underhook and turns him. Now Anderson has his back to the cage. A head punch blocked on the inside by Santana. Santana goes for a takedown attempt but Anderson pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Santana bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Santana working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Anderson tries to buck Santana off but Santana is having none of it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Santana tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Santana has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Santana tries for a kimura but Anderson is defending well. Anderson is trying to get back to half guard. Santana tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Santana is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Anderson is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Ricky Anderson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Anderson tries to improve position but can't. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Santana fails miserably with a takedown attempt. An inside leg kick from Anderson misses.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Igor Santana. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Santana, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
